Nice lineup there, Blues For Bartok. Even better, 5 stars in All Music Guide/Jazz.

Thanks all for the great recommendations. This is why I really enjoy this place. I was just over at Amazon and see they have a couple copies of 'The Warm Sound' cd along with many available as new and used. I should be able to purchase this one, no problem. I'll still give some consideration to the Blue Note issue at some point in the future. You can spend only so much money and it's pretty tight on this end these days.

I'm presently listening to the Tina Brooks album, 'The Waiting Game' which features the trumpet work of Johnny Coles. This is probably the only release I own he's featured on. You guys have any further thoughts on Johnny and willing to offer any specific recommendations? I see he has a few releases available on Amazon, most notably the Blue Note issue 'Little Johnny C'. Other session work would be cool as well.
  4. I really enjoy the Whistle Stop album. There's some real fine playing by Kenny on this one. FWIW, a 5 star rating in All Music Guide.
  5. Chris, I'm listening to Bluesnik right now. It's a fine one and as Dan said, if you enjoy some blues infused jazz, you'll enjoy this one. A highly accessable album. Nice playing by Freddie Hubbard as well.
  6. Thanks for the input felllas. Next in line for purchase will be this album and 'Jacknife'. The combo of Tolliver and Morgan sounds too good to resist.
  7. I recently have been beefing up my Jackie Mclean collection and came across this album. I read some positive reviews FWIW on Amazon and a favorable writeup on AMG. What say McLean devotees, is this one a keeper? It's been said Lee Morgan steals the show? I'm a huge Morgan fan. Thanks.
  8. What works for one, doesn't necessarily work for another. I've gone to my present chiropractor for at least the past 15 years and absolutely swear by him. He's gotten me out of some bad circumstances. Something I've always been grateful for. For me, I can't imagine what life would be like without his occasional help. I go every six weeks whether I need it or not and it's all covered under my health plan. Let me also add, Paul mentioned back exercises. A good plan. Something I do on a pretty regular basis. If I slack off, that's when I encounter problems.
  9. I probably get to McDonald's twice a year to get it out or into my system for that matter. For the most part, I'm pretty good at keeping away from the junk food. I usually follow a pretty regimented life style being a firm believer or fanatic when it comes to diet and exercise. But every now and then you have these urges. I try not to feel to guilty about it though and they do taste good.
  10. Guys, I just finished listening to the Root Doctor cd and have to say I was really impressed! These guys have really got it down but good. They handle the blues, alittle r & b and some soul quite well. They have a real tight sounding band. Freddie Cunningham handles most of the vocal chores and he's got a real fine voice. Our own Greg Nagy handles the guitar duties and does an outstanding job. The standout track for me is 'Too Late To Try To Do Right' features some outstanding guitar work. I have to say it gave me goosebumps to be quite frank. He takes lead vocal duty on 'Mississippi Blues' playing acoustic. I'd like to hear more of that in the future. Jim Alfredson plays Hammond organ and contributes some real tasty grooves. He also takes lead vocal duties on the title track 'Been A Long Time Coming'. James Williams on bass and Matt Hayes drums, do a fine job keeping the unit intact. Some of the tracks also feature some nice horn arrangements provided by Jim. Let me say in conclusion the Root Doctor cd is well worth purchasing. I purchased my copy from CD Baby. If you have any doubts, please go to the CD Baby website and sample some of the tracks yourself. I think you're really going to be quite happy with this one. Greg and Jim no doubt deserve your support on this one.
  11. Don't sweat it! I thought you spoke very good english.I really enjoyed conversing with you. I look forward to getting together again on the Skype in the near future.
  12. I was abit curious if others here had this program on there computers and came across this thread. I'm a big fan having talked to people in Illinois, Arizona, Texas, Scotland and Germany. I would really enjoy the opportunity to talk to some of you guys at some point. If you happen to see my on Skype, give me a buzz. My screenname is thomasjj.
  13. Thanks guys for the input. I originally had a Kenny Burrell release scheduled to be sent Monday, but when a fellow jazz fan hyped this one recently, I decided to take the plunge. I figured I couldn't go wrong especially after reading the review on yourmusic.
  14. I just ordered this one. Anyone want to add there thoughts on this one, seeing it's the first Booker Ervin purchase I've made up to this point?
  15. Sell my jazz collection? I'd rather file for bankrupcy.
  16. I know there are a few people here at Organissimo that enjoy blues music. So I thought I would post this link for access to nearly 1600 mps of blues and gospel music. Check it out! Roots Listening Room
  17. While I also enjoy classical music a great deal, the blues is a real passion for me. Not a difficult choice here.
  18. I've only had a chance to listen to it once, so far, but I'd highly recommend it. And if you're already an Elmo Hope fan and it's now available for $5.99 with free shipping, what the heck are you waiting for??? That's all I needed to hear, Ron. Both items have now been placed in my cart. Man, I love this place.
  19. The Ike Quebec 45 Sessions sounds like a keeper after all the good things I've read about it here. I also enjoy Elmo Hope big time. Anyone willing to offer a few thoughts on that release?
  20. What are the other two? Dialogue and Components are the other two.
  21. Glad to hear alot of folks singing the praises of Oblique. I received this one in the past week from yourmusic.com for 5.99. I own only 2 other Bobby Hutcherson albums at present on Blue Note and this by far is my favorite.
  22. Excellent stuff, Jim. Me and My Wife is a real nice number. Look for me to be a customer. I'm sold.
  23. Funny stuff, guys. I really do enjoy my job for the most part. It keeps me out of the office most of the day and the time flies by. Winters can test the nerves abit. The cold doesn't effect me too much as long as I dress properly. It's the ice that gets me. I've fallen a number of times. Luckily haven't gotten hurt seriously, although it creates anxiety no doubt. As for taking any jazz shipments... Well there is this guy on the route who gets Mosaic mailings now and then. I couldn't mess with him though. He already knows I'm a jazz fan and he would suspect me first if anything should suddenly come up missing. Besides, he recently gave me a jazz Christmas anthology and I just wouldn't have the heart.
  24. No s***! My job requires to me work outside(mailman) and I already have a negative attitude. Well another 11 years and maybe I can retire.
