Looking for "Bladik"
AmirBagachelles replied to AmirBagachelles's topic in Offering and Looking For...
I haven't had a lead on this one. Anybody want to sell one for $$ cash or a good trade? Can anybody offer a CDR? By the way, the older Mujician titles are dwindling, probably not to be reissued. I have a spare Poem About the Hero, and waysidemusic website (Cuneiform store) says The Journey is down to 50 copies or so. I am pretty swept up in Dean and Dunmall these days, I think they kill. Ten stars.

I don't want to bury this lead: I was rude, sorry to OD for ill-tempered response. Here's the quote I take offense to: "I quite agree with the disdain many people have for the hordes of "deadheads," most of whom got into the band well after their prime. It became a scene for scene's sake and the venues just got larger and larger until the intimacy disappeared and the band appeared to play for pay." This is a condescension and prejudice, plain and simple. This reflects a proprietary or entitled attitude about the GD scene, which was always both a music and social scene. The venues got larger and the money got better for the band, good for them! And let's not get into arguments about the band's prime, many of us were very pleased about how the music's color evolved and matured post '78. Try set 2 from Dick's Picks 6... As for hordes, you are probably referencing the violence toward the end, but if you weren't around to distinguish the 99% true fans from the 1% of rioters post '93, from where does your misinformed point of view come? As for Jerry puking over GD golf balls, I doubt it. Jerry and the entire band struggled and worked hard to enjoy upper middle class life, including traveling with their own chefs at times. I believe fans who love that band and their music begrudge them nothing. So they can't play for pay? I guess if the "fans" feel so entitled... I was there A LOT from '77 to '95. The scene and the music: up/down, mostly splendid, peaked for me in 1990 at the Garden, still amazing shows seen/heard thru '93. Sorry for the confusing reference to Dick L., all in jest. And the ugly words to OD. I am sorry for the hair trigger. Dan

Having just finished ordering a GD bumper sticker, I thought I would copy the nice PM I got from orchi-douche, mr. original dead head (Dick L. never liked this guy): I'm sorry--I didn't mean to offend you. Just expressing my opinion about how a "hippie" group became superstars and have placed their name on everthing from t-shirts to golf balls. I just find that a little sad. As to your abusive language--what's the need for that? Yes, I am an original dead head. And, yes, I think they went downhill after the last blast of 77-78. Just my opinion--nothing rammed down your throat. If you like the dead of the eighties, good for you--I have no issue with you. But even the dead said that the parking lot scene was screwqing up the tours. I guess you must be someone with at least five hundred tapes in your possession. Quick--name five tunes from any one of them. Sorry your penis is so small that you can no longer jack it off, little man. I think the people looking at your post will see it for what it is: a juvenile ant by a hothead with nothing to say. Note that I didn't think it worth a public response. I can't wait for your clever reply. Orchidouche: take your ten posts and your worldly view and beat it.

Any help would be appreciated, trade or cash. Thanks, Dan

Yes - '68 is the stuff the magic was made from. A burner no doubt.

Harumph. I guess now you're even Chuck.

Is anybody familiar with this band, I see Dunmall played with them in the 80s, contributed original material. Dunmall is terrific, though he raves endlessly about Coltrane, I think his awesome command also reminds me of Jimmy Lyons. Thanks, Dan

My twenty year old impression of hacker pschorr as one to look for is failing me, the beer is too bitter, flavor doesn't seem to linger in my mouth either. The owner of the local distributor says Spaten is mighty good. Any strong opinions out there about any other octoberfest beers? We must act fast...

Looking for Connoisseur cds
AmirBagachelles replied to djcavanagh's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Try Norman's Sound in NYC, on Cooper Square. That's where old Blue Note titles go and wait for us. -
Any recs for inexpensive cushy pads to go under my CD player? Had to move the rig off the stone hearth to a spot that is like a wood trampoline! Thanks

I have a few good OOP Hat titles for trade hopefully (before posting for sale here or on Ebay), I'd like to try for a few I've been looking for: (the Braxton SC and Willisau might be a 2x1 or 3x1 trade depending upon what is offered, thanks) Braxton Quartet - live Santa Cruz '93 (2 cd) Braxton Quartet - live Willisau '91 (2 cd) Jimmy Lyons / Sunny Murray trio - Jump Up John Carter / Bobby Bradford - Comin' On Cecil Taylor - Garden pt. 2 ******* I am looking for (but feel free to pitch your ideas): *** Braxton: Quartet Willisau '91 Studio Dortmund '76 Basel '77 w/ Ran Blake - A Memory of Vienna (thanks for the burn guys!) Cecil Taylor: Garden pt. 1 Dunmall et al: Ghostly Thoughts Clusone 3: Rara Avis Gerry Hemingway: Marmalade King Special Detail thanks, Dan use pm or email to dannycummins@gmail.com

Ooops. No spare 80 bucks recently, thus I delayed. 10,000 issued though, I am hopeful. Way back when, Live Dead, Anthem and those searing tapes from '68-74 just pulled me in and kept me enthralled. When I check back in now, various '68 and '69 jams are still the best live rock grooves for my head, and few earthly thrills can ever top Dark Star and The Eleven. Must get that set...

Poll: Yankees Atop the Wild Card
AmirBagachelles replied to Dan Gould's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I voted for f*ck the yanks, but I think their offense and mild improvement by Leiter and RJ can make the difference. They will need excellent lefty pitching (which they don't have) to make it to the series. -
Looking back a page or two to Hunter's latest poignant thoughts, I am reminded of his great role in Deadheads' joy. Let's not forget his talent. When Garcia died, the best reflections upon the Dead and the scene, in my opinion, covered the general high quality of the band's authored and covered songbook. We were singing and dancing along to some dandies! Hunter/Garcia was a top team, and delivered several LPs worth of excellent material over their first decade, plus a few nuggets after 1976. So hats go off to Robert Hunter. who also offered me measured closure on the Dead years, with his Web journal and a fun concert at Town Hall in the late 90s.

I am out of ideas on where to look for these two (I've tried my usual 10-15 sources): Ran Blake & Anthony Braxton: A Memory of Vienna Urs Leimgruber et al: No Try No Fail any suggestions would be welcome Thanks, Dan

Wasn't there a very good vinyl store in Hartford that was recommended here awhile back? I have some time to kill later this month, I want to dive the bins in western CT and the Berkshires, if anybody has some ideas. Thanks, Dan

Thanks, that "if six were nine" hit the spot. I hope to hear from anybody who heard OM play live. (And any hot tips on where their old vinyl may be lurking will be appreciated.) Thanks, Dan

my ears/mind has been soaking in Christy Doran's hot and atmospheric guitar for a few weeks, since getting ahold of two terrific Ray Anderson discs on Hat, as well as Christy's two on Hat. Last weekend I finally heard a bit of OM on the Half a Lifetime live compilation (what a great eclectic set, my best find in months!!) and today I am spinning two (beat copies unfortunately) of OM vinyl -- Kirikuki and w/ Dom Um Romao. OM sounds like much much more than Christy's band, I like the intense Burri bass groove and the bursts of dueling Doran and Liemgruber soprano. And Freddy Studer. This is a tasty band!!!!! This stuff should have been put to CD, its way better than 99% of any fused jazz/rock I have ever heard. I'd love to hear more...

My point is that they seem headed toward a quantification of new unreleased material with that phrase about the old one being only 57 minutes. So how much new will be available?. I am very wary of rereissues.
-
"where 1994's original... ran for only 57 minutes..." ok got that part. how much of the original performance has been restored? I think I liked that later band best of all too.

its more sexy beast, or long good friday than lock stock. we really liked it
