Off topic I know but I like brother Claude too. One of my favourite pianists from the mid 50s from whatever coast.
  4. Stu Williamson Plays; Bethlehem (Fresh Sound reissue) Brother Claude is a bonus.
  5. Love it too, but I have the 8cd box.
  6. Received a copy of 'Jazz Covers' today. Nicely produced and with enough unusual covers to make it a worthwhile purchase. But it's not 1000 covers, only 650?

Always an interesting and releiable player but I haven't played anything by him for quite a while. Thanks for the reminder Tom, I'll dust one or two off for playing later today.

  13. I've had the Japanese vinyl for years and guess I've played it a couple of times but it didn't make any impression on me either.
  14. A Musicians Union ban on overseas musicians prevented publicising the London recording of Blues in Trinity.
  15. This still seems to be elusive in the UK. Amazon.UK don't have it and an order to an Amazon seller came back with delivery in four days followed by a refund a day later as out of stock. Nevertheless this seller is still advertising the book as in stock!!
  16. Claude Williamson Trio; Have Piano Can't Travel; Bethlehem, Fresh Sound reissue
  17. Sorry I'm late but Happy Birthday and many happy returns.
  18. My first encounter with electric Miles in London. Possibly at the Rainbow, can't recall the year.
  19. Claude Williamson; Keys West. Affinity issue of Capitol Kenton Presents.
  20. That has been my experience too, but I haven't heard that many.
  21. Nice record, although I prefer the early trios on Contemporary.
  22. That was back in 2002. I missed the Cheltenham date but caught them shortly after at Brecon. Unfortunately Drake didn't make that gig. Shahid has been Murrays regular bass player for several years. I first came across him when he was with Roscoe Mitchell. He is also with the Art Ensemble of Chicago.
  23. Good stuff. Right!
  24. A very happy birthday to you Ronald.
  25. Discovered this browsing the internet the other day. Recorded in November 2007. It's on Jazzwerkstatt 035. With Lafayette Gilchrist, Jaribu Shahid and Hamid Drake.
