  1. Music For Lighthouse Keeping came out on OJC OJCCD 636 2.
  2. I came across this illustration on the back of a Johnny Costa Savoy lp. The curtains and the table lamp show a bit more of the domesticity of RVG studio than we usually see. I thought it might be of interest.

I find the Prestige items very enjoyable but for me it's the Delmarks which are the most interesting and get the most playing. It's along time since I had anything by the Edison Quintet with Forest, I know I didn't keep the album I had very long.
  4. That's the 2-disc version, not the limited-edition one with the blue vinyl LP and the book. They just reused the same description. The limited edition is $71.89: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7739550 How misleading can they get!!
  5. Two tracks particularly caught my ear yesterday Some Other Time - Monica Zetterlund with the Bill Evans Trio (Complete Bill Evans on Verve) One Never Knows - Modern Jazz Quartet (The Last Concert, Atlantic)
  6. Sounds like a nice one, especially recreating Bird with Strings
  7. Another one to pull out and play. That's one of the things I like about this place, makes me get out some overlooked discs.
  8. Happy Birthday HBJ
  9. Thanks for posting, a favourite group of mine too.
  10. Sad news. McGoohan was always worth watching.
  11. $15.98 at CD Universe!
  12. How do they work out these prices? Horace Parlan's Us Three, more than $31.!!!!!
  13. Lou Mecca; Blue Note, Japanese Toshiba.
  14. Happy Birthday Clifford.
  15. Lee Konitz - Danish Swingtime album recorded in Germany in 1956. With Lars Gullin and Hans Koller. Konitz plays baritone on two tracks.
  16. Even "Mindscapes"? I forgot 'Midscape' was on Blue Note. I wouldn't want to hear 'Waterbirds' again. Never heard Tome VI but I dont think I want to.
  17. All the Melle Blue Note and Prestige sides are worth having. Thoughtful and interesting arrangements and excelent solos. Highly recommended.
  18. Happy Birthday Nate.
  19. I'd like to think so but Dan is about right. I've been listening for fifty years and although I get great pleasure from the the jazz of the 40s/50s/60s/70s I can't really get interested or be bothered to seek out most of the jazz coming out today. Fortunately many of the players from these eras are still active and have a lot to contribute.

I see that six tracks from Jazz Goes Russia have now appeared on a Jazzbeat cd coupled with the Atlantic sides.
  21. Happy Birthday Marty. Sorry I'm not in Florida right now.
  22. Freddie Hubbard; Sky Dive - UK CTI.
  23. Freddie Hubbard; Straight Life. Before that Red Clay. Both UK pressings.
  24. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
