Just got around to playing it now John. Sonny was invariably hip and groovy. Never better than at this time imo.

Just going from memory on the 52nd St album. There usually seems to be little reason behind Avid's Choices.

52nd St Scene is worth a listen. Two basic groups, one a swing/mainstream group. The other a boppish lineup.

My copy is an early Fresh Sound cd. Both the long tracks, Byrd House and Curro's have a second round of solos, not repeats. Are the alternates just tagged on?

I've got an Esquire of that one somewhere in the racks. Time for a search ! Sounds like someone needs a cataloger/organizer. I'll volunteer! Other than Blue Notes, Prestige, British stuff and Mosaics, everything else is pseudo-random.. That's just like mine. Mostly it works.
