  1. I believe that Marvin Gaye track (disc 2 track 3) is from his album HERE, MY DEAR which was an album he recorded as a divorce settlement with his wife. She was to get all the money from his next album, so Gaye went ahead and made his next album the story of their relationship. Needless to say, she wasn't very happy.
  2. I've always had my music categorized and alphabetized. I followed your standard record store categorization scheme. Lately, I realized that I'm tired of putting music into categories. I have so much music that could fit in multiple categories. I figure music is music. I'm going to go A-Z.
  3. I agree, it's one entertaining set! Moose, You got one crazy cat! My two year old went to sleep last night listening to disc 2. He really liked that first track and the flanged sax.
  4. Cool retrospective, Chris! Berigan, I would never pictured you that way. Great picture!
  5. I guess I'll wish you an early Happy Birthday, Ghost (it's still the 8th here). I hope you have a great B-day tomorrow!
  6. It's nice to see what y'all look like (except Jazz )! Great idea, Berigan!
  7. Just kiddin' Here I am (for real):
  8. I dig "Funktastic" !!! Congrats R/T!
  9. Now that's funny! But it makes you wonder who he was debating with. Ok, I need to stop thinking about this sicko now. Where's the puking smiley when you need it? I'm still creeped out by this. I think it's funny that he's got two of them now. Even if he found a woman insane enough to marry him, I don't think he'd be happy with just one girl. (Insert puking avatar here)
  10. I'm sorry for your loss, too. We lost our cat a couple years ago and my wife still cries when she thinks about him.
  11. If you're a fan of the Dead, Airplane, and Quicksilver, you're alright in my book! I can hang with Santana up until around '74, but I wouldn't take his stuff to a desert island or anything, but the Dead, Airplane, and Quicksilver would be there in a second.
  12. Great idea, Evan! I've got a bunch on my hard drive at work. I'll post them tomorrow.
  13. WHAT? "We called her the Poopsmith." "We called her the Poopsmith." "We called her the Poopsmith." Is this a true story? Did you guys really call her Poopsmith? That's so out of left field AB! From the same people who brought you The Adventures of James T. Cat comes an all new invention that will leave you stunned! P O O P S M I T H. (Coming soon) Jazz, Have you ever heard of Homestarrunner? It's this cartoon site on the internet. They have this whole little world of characters. It's really funny. Well, the Poopsmith is one of the characters there. We called ol' Ginger that because that's pretty much what she did - she shoveled the sh*t onto us. http://www.homestarrunner.com
  14. Here are some of my honest opinions: I listened to disc 2 last night (on my headphones) when I went to be last night. My guess is that this was compiled late at night. I really dug the groove and feel of it. I'm very happy with the music. I don't have time to get into a track by track analysis, but late me say one word: Harmolodic B) There are some tracks that really pull you in as they go on. Track 4 especially for me. I just dug the changes as it went on. I really dug the vocal track (which is the second to last song).
  15. I can't thank you enough for all have done for us here!
  16. Me too! If I had the money, I'd buy guitars like I used to buy Hot Wheels. Speaking of Hot Wheels, my 2 year old son already has over 150 of them. I can't stop buying them for him.
  17. You're not alone.
  18. I used to work with a woman named Ginger. We called her the Poopsmith. Nobody liked her much. I love Altoids, but I think I'll skip these.
  19. RDK, I think I was in your batch. THANKS!!! :rsmile: I'm going to go and listen to disc 1 again right now.
  20. I feel the same way, Harold. I have enough respect for Jim that I would listen to a CD of Christmas caroles if that's what he had picked. I know there'd be a damn good reason for his choice of songs. I actually like his Blindfold CDs, I think they're interesting. I'm going to continue to listen to the CDs over and over and.... As for compiler's choice. I was thinking of including some tracks that wouldn't be found in the jazz section of the local record store, but they had elements that were influenced by jazz. I also was considering the some 1970's Fela Kuti. I don't know how a jazz lover could hate that music. I also had considered a Ravi Shankar track that had Bud Shank, Gary Peacock, and Louis Hayes on it. My hope is that I'll be exposed to artists I know and artists I'd never heard before. I figure if someone on this board likes something enough to put it on their Blindfold CD, then that track must have some merit and I'm going to listen with an open mind.
  21. That's cool, Lon. I'm excited about participating because I look forward to hearing new music. If it's about competition, then I'm gonna lose.
  22. I'm cool with it as long as they don't have Rob Thomas from Matchbox 20. I'd rather see them all do Coltrane's OM instead. That would be fun.
