  1. I've been using this for a couple weeks. The only thing involving my firewall was when it asked me to allow it to send info to sharingthegroove when I first started using it. Other than that, my firewall is normal and I've been leaving shows up for others to download. There's some great Coltrane and Miles up there now. I've got some Dead shows, a bunch of Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd, Zappa, etc...
  2. When I read the title, " Yule Be Miserable", I was afraid Verve had dubbed Kenny G onto all those tracks (ala his duet with Armstrong ). That would be an uncool yule!
  3. I hope you both have very happy birthdays!
  4. When I got into jazz, I was a listener. After a while, I became I collector. I think the Conns got me started down that road. I collected jazz very seriously for about 8 years and realized that it had lost its joy for me. Now, I'm a listener again. I'm enjoying the music more than I have in years.
  5. Right on, Catesta! Bring back F-Troop!
  6. I hope you have a GREAT birthday!!!!
  7. I believe that Marvin Gaye track (disc 2 track 3) is from his album HERE, MY DEAR which was an album he recorded as a divorce settlement with his wife. She was to get all the money from his next album, so Gaye went ahead and made his next album the story of their relationship. Needless to say, she wasn't very happy.
  8. I've always had my music categorized and alphabetized. I followed your standard record store categorization scheme. Lately, I realized that I'm tired of putting music into categories. I have so much music that could fit in multiple categories. I figure music is music. I'm going to go A-Z.
  9. I agree, it's one entertaining set! Moose, You got one crazy cat! My two year old went to sleep last night listening to disc 2. He really liked that first track and the flanged sax.
  10. Cool retrospective, Chris! Berigan, I would never pictured you that way. Great picture!
  11. I guess I'll wish you an early Happy Birthday, Ghost (it's still the 8th here). I hope you have a great B-day tomorrow!
  12. It's nice to see what y'all look like (except Jazz )! Great idea, Berigan!
  13. Just kiddin' Here I am (for real):
  14. I dig "Funktastic" !!! Congrats R/T!
  15. Now that's funny! But it makes you wonder who he was debating with. Ok, I need to stop thinking about this sicko now. Where's the puking smiley when you need it? I'm still creeped out by this. I think it's funny that he's got two of them now. Even if he found a woman insane enough to marry him, I don't think he'd be happy with just one girl. (Insert puking avatar here)
  16. I'm sorry for your loss, too. We lost our cat a couple years ago and my wife still cries when she thinks about him.
  17. If you're a fan of the Dead, Airplane, and Quicksilver, you're alright in my book! I can hang with Santana up until around '74, but I wouldn't take his stuff to a desert island or anything, but the Dead, Airplane, and Quicksilver would be there in a second.
  18. Great idea, Evan! I've got a bunch on my hard drive at work. I'll post them tomorrow.
  19. WHAT? "We called her the Poopsmith." "We called her the Poopsmith." "We called her the Poopsmith." Is this a true story? Did you guys really call her Poopsmith? That's so out of left field AB! From the same people who brought you The Adventures of James T. Cat comes an all new invention that will leave you stunned! P O O P S M I T H. (Coming soon) Jazz, Have you ever heard of Homestarrunner? It's this cartoon site on the internet. They have this whole little world of characters. It's really funny. Well, the Poopsmith is one of the characters there. We called ol' Ginger that because that's pretty much what she did - she shoveled the sh*t onto us. http://www.homestarrunner.com
  20. Here are some of my honest opinions: I listened to disc 2 last night (on my headphones) when I went to be last night. My guess is that this was compiled late at night. I really dug the groove and feel of it. I'm very happy with the music. I don't have time to get into a track by track analysis, but late me say one word: Harmolodic B) There are some tracks that really pull you in as they go on. Track 4 especially for me. I just dug the changes as it went on. I really dug the vocal track (which is the second to last song).
