  1. Here's my excuse: He never stops and he loves ripping the pages out of books.
  2. Arrrrrrrgh! Dirty Jack Flint here!
  3. Maybe she's just not very surefooted.
  4. Have a GREAT birthday, Deus! If Doug R is lurking out there, Happy Birthday to you, too!
  5. I'm glad you guys like the avatar! It's that mullet family that we used to post all the time. I figured they'd make a perfect family for ol' James T. Jazz, I know I still need to make your avatar. You'll have it soon. Jazzdog, my favorite Dylan album cover is NASHVILLE SKYLINE too!
  6. This is pretty easy for me. My favorite Dylan covers were done by the Byrds. They had a whole bunch of 'em. I'm pretty sick of this version, but I used to really dig Hendrix' take on "Along Along the Watchtower". Sundog, if you like "If Not For You", you need to track down a bootleg of the 1970 Dylan/Harrison sessions. I believe they cowrote that track together. I know it's not a version by another artist, but I LOVE Dylan's version of "Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You " from the LIVE 1975 (The Bootleg Series Volume 5) CD. The original track was on NASHVILLE SKYLINE, but it might as well have been a different song.
  7. Joe, I like your Weebles post! Even you have gotten into the fun! Yes, they do wobble.... but they don't fall down. Oooooh, how do they dooooo it? It's still a mystery.
  8. I also enjoyed the site too! I guess we're just bored or something.
  9. Bam-bam's dad:
  10. This was a set that I really wanted before I got it. Unfortunately, I expected it to be different than it was. I really dug Jacquet's collaboration with Ben Webster on THE KID AND THE BRUTE. I guess I expected the Mosaic set to be more of the same. It wasn't. It took time to grow on me. Now I dig it. But if I would have missed out on getting it, I probably wouldn't lose any sleep.
  11. SGUD missile, I respect how you feel about this. This is your livelihood. What I like about some of these download sites is that they only allow you to post and download music by artists who allow it. I mainly get my downloads from furthurnet.org and they won't allow anything that isn't by an artist that approves of downloads. These sites have to respect copyrights our they won't last long. I'll admit that I do trade some CDr's of out-of-print music, but I always prefer to have the real thing and if/when it becomes available, I buy it. I've also downloaded mp3s to see if I like the music in the first place. If I like it, I'll buy it. If I don't then I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. I think I've deleted much of what I've downloaded in the past. Since I view mp3 to be inferior to the quality of a CD, I really just use them to get a taste.
  12. I've been working with .shn files for a long time. I always thought it would be a great way to trade jazz online.
  13. Nice site! It has been bookmarked.
  14. I love Korla Pandit. I've got a bunch of his Fantasy records albums from the fifties on colored vinyl. Fantasy has a Korla Pandit cd in their catalog. He used to have a TV show in the early fifties out here in LA. I guess he would play his exotic organ music and mesmerize housewives. He only passed away a couple years ago.
  15. I listened to about 95% jazz for about 12 years until 2 years ago. I hit jazz collector burnout. I was so consumed with listening and aquiring jazz that I forced myself to take a break. I didn't listen to any jazz for about 3 months. In that time, I rediscovered my love for all kinds of music. Now I listen to about 25% jazz, 25% old country, 25% rock, and whatever else I can find. I do find myself enjoying jazz more than I had in a long time.
  16. I love this kind of stuff! Especially the sites that trade taper-friendly bands. I haven't tried, sharingthegroove, but thanks for the tip, I will. One that I've had a lot of success is the furthurnet.org peer-to-peer trading system, they don't have a lot of jazz, but if you like the Grateful Dead (like me), it's Heaven.
  17. THANK YOU!!!!! I can't wait to hear what you came up with.
  18. Regarding the recpit, did Mixerman ever pick up his diary of the Bitchslap sessions? That was great reading!
  19. Here's a quote I found in a muppets forum about Roosevelt's demise:
  20. I loved that guy! (the muppet ) I forgot all about him.
