  1. Because you can't please everyone all the time. With everything going down on these forums lately, this has become painfullly clear to me. It looks like you've entered the "no good deed goes unpunished" phase of running the bulletin board. I for one, thank you for all you've done here.
  2. I tried to keep it apolitical. Hence, the ________.
  3. I get that all the time, and I always though of it as a courtesy, because I AM stupid, and it effects my life daily. So, by answering "yes" when asked, I usually avoid getting more trouble than you can stick a shake at. I guess I really should say "Yes" too. Especially since I voted for ______ in the last election.
  4. You're sure that's not Cheap Ho Lay? B)
  5. I don't think we avoid confrontation around here. I think it's great that we have different points of view that we argue for, but what's the purpose of name calling. I guess I just believe that you're never going to win an argument by being an a-hole about it. That's one thing I respect about you, Johnny, is that you argue passionately but you don't just sit around and call people stupid. Edit: You do express frustration, but you don't start replies with statements such as "Are you stupid?" - If someone replies like that to me, then whatever valid arguments they may have had go right out the window with me.
  6. Ya mean it ain't "Chip-pot-lee"? See, I can't even say it right. Don't worry, Jazz, stream of consciousness is fun. It worked for Kerouac. That's my favorite Jack in the Box commercial too. I think the guy called it Junk in a Box.
  7. I know from the Jack in the Box TV commercials that they pronounced it: Chee poat lay Works for me.
  8. Those are cool ties. I'm glad I finally know the origin of your name, R/T. I have to admit I was curious.
  9. I just found out there's a Chipotle only 4.5 miles from my house! Baja Fresh no mas!
  10. I went to Chipotle for the first time last month (when I visited Austin). I'm still dreaming of that place! I swear!
  11. I heard she's getting a flat panel display TV and a copy of the movie Flatliners to go with her new DVD player (which is now on hold at WalMart). (I do know I will burn for this. )
  12. Good point! I picked my copy up for $11.99 and I'm happy.
  13. Good point about the liability, Jazz. I agree, their offer was a slap in the face.
  14. I've learned a lot from the Album of the Week discussions too. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to pick up a lot of the albums, but I'm glad it still goes on. I think there is room for any album that is picked. If someone wants to do an old warhorse, that's cool. If someone else wants to take us into new territory, that's great too. I just wish I had more money. I think an RVG of the Month would be fun. I'm looking forward to the first pick. I also like Conn's suggestion of the Greazy selection of the month! This is a great idea and this is the place to do it.
  15. That is a great story, Ed! I'm glad the garbage men were late that day. I have my first guitar still, but it's in pieces. At one point I sanded down the body and reshaped the headstock. I've kept the pieces because I hope to put it back together someday. My wife asked me about this box of crap (as she calls it), but I could never get rid of it. Heck, I didn't each lunch for 3 months, so I could save for that guitar.
  16. How? By the time I got to the table, they only had one left, and then gave me some stupid excuse about it "being on hold for some flat woman". I mean reallY! (Yeah, like I'd shop at WalMart! ) Thanks Moose! It's amazing how bad customer service has gotten. In the old days (of customer service - I know they didn't have DVD players then ), if a women was trampled in a store trying to buy something, I would have believed that the store might have done the generous thing and GAVE her the DVD play plus a TV to watch it on. But, I guess offering to put it on hold is as good as you'll get. Heck, the box of the player is probably crushed anyway, so they figured they had nothing to lose.
  17. Man, I hope Borders isn't on strike too! I didn't know they had unionized employees. Out in California we're about eight weeks into the grocery store strike (I haven't crossed the picket lines). This just seems like a bad time of year for a strike.
  18. I still haven't seen it. I guess I had the same fears that it might not be very entertaining.
  19. Ho ho ho Tjazz, thanks for the tip on the Buck Owens and Hank Thompson Christmas albums. I'll have to get those soon.
  20. Ouch! I'm waiting for Joe Millionaire's debut recording as Wotan in Wagner's Das Rheingold.
  21. Thanks for the tip, Berigan! I'm surprised nobody has cracked any jokes about the great $29 DVD player they got at the Walmart stampede. Remember, Christmas is about buying stuff.
  22. I say since Soulstation1 came up with the idea, SS1 should get the first pick. We could post it in the AoTW section of the forum and use the same method to choose the following month's selections (the shoulder tap). We have done a couple of RVG's as Album of the Week, so whoever gets the pick, should review the previous AoTW selections.
