  1. You mock, I know, but that's what it's all about for a defense attorney - the supreme compliment. Honestly... I'm not mocking. He was a very good attorney. I do appreciate many of the good things he did outside of the OJ trial. I just can't get that image of OJ with the glove out of my head.
  2. I'm glad O.J. didn't get him... I should say something nice for him... Let's see... If I was on trial, he would have been one of my first choices to defend me. R.I.P.
  3. Keep your Free For All name. That's how we know you. I made a mistake switching mine.
  4. Same here! (except that I'm not Rooster Ties) Nobody knew who I was... so I'm back to my old handle. No mo' name changes. Yeah, AfricaBrass is back in the house!!!! I was half-thinking of starting a poll a few days ago, and lobbying people to vote to bring back your old handle, Jeff. Don't know what tipped the scales, but it's good to have you back to the one and only AfricaBrass!!!! Thanks RT!! It felt like I lost my mojo or something. My being here with a different name then AfricaBrass is like "Don't Fear the Reaper" WITHOUT the cowbell.
  5. No more changes in name; only avatars. I promise! I'll always try to have Cat Shatner in my avatars. He's my pal.
  6. I had no problem ripping my copy of The Boss by Jimmy Smith. I hate copy protection. I can't see me ever buying a copy protected cd. Things like this make me glad that I don't have an iPod. I would never use the iTunes. I don't want ANYONE controlling my music except ME.
  7. Same here! (except that I'm not Rooster Ties) Nobody knew who I was... so I'm back to my old handle. No mo' name changes. I hardly had a chance to get used to your real name! I see that you have a new avatar. That's you with the beard? No... it's from an album cover by a band called Dieselhed. I just love that picture. I'm thinking of doing a whole series of Cat Shatner in the seventies.

  9. I hope you have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
  10. I don't remember hiss from my Roland JC-120 which I purchased it in 1986. Yeah, thank goodness for those casters. When we used to play in Hollywood, we'd often have a hard time finding parking. I remember riding my amp (slowly) down a hill to the gig, like the freakin' Lone Ranger. I told Ron that I'm used to hiss from my tube amps, but my solid state Tech 21 amp is dead quiet.
  11. That's GREAT news, Scott!
  12. Big time! :tup It also shows that you have a very good head on your shoulders. You can't put a price on that.
  13. boo. no need to remove artists. users of the easytree site make efforts not to trade material which has been or might be released officially. removing artists would deprive people of trading live performances and radio broadcasts which they would otherwise not get a chance to listen to but which will not or have not had any "commercial life" outside of sketchy bootlegs. I guess you're right. It's such a grey area. I love having this stuff up there and I hope the artists are cool with it, but there's also the hope that they're not aware of it in the first place, which allows us to keep on sharing. Hopefully, Chuck and his artist friends will see that we do respect their wishes. The quick reaction and deletion of this torrent shows a strong respect for the musician's wishes and willingness to accommodate them.
  14. I'm enjoying the show. Thanks for posting the California time. Everybody forgets about us. I actually turned off Pee Wee Russell to listen. That's how much I like your show.
  15. Sorry, but it really is the appropriate response. I don't see the reason for dislike of a kindly as a response. I'm not doing it much anymore, but I always used to think it was okay to respond to a post this way, since it let the previous poster know that their joke was appreciated.
  16. Let's hope it's not just 500 posts of " " Not all of us have access to a hidden forum where we can talk smack about the rest of us...
  17. H A P P Y E A S T E R !!!!!!! I hope it's a good one for y'all.
  18. Tom, Thanks for putting together such a thoughtful BFT and bonus concert package. I really appreciate it, and I'm really excited about that Woody Shaw! :rsmile: ---------------- Jeff / formerly AfricaBrass
  19. I love that album. I haven't listened to it in a while, but I played it non-stop for a couple of weeks when it was released. How's their first? Any comments on the following? COLDPLAY/PARACHUTES ELLIOTT SMITH/EITHER OF MONTREAL/CHERRY PEEL IRON & WINE/THE CREEK DRANK THE CRADLE UNWRITTEN LAW/ELVA Elliott Smith was a real surprise for me. I didn't listen to him until there was a thread on this board about him. Wow! I was missing out. In the year I was listening to him before his passing, I had purchased almost all his work. I like parts of the first Shins album, but I think Chutes Too Narrow is much better. The first album sounds like there is two different songwriters and the songs reflect that, but I did like the Syd Barrett-ism's that I heard in it. Speaking of Sub Pop, I was a big fan of the Beachwood Sparks first album that came out around 2000. They lost their way IMO on the subsequent releases, but there was a side project that came out last year called All Night Radio which had the steel guitarist and the drummer from the band. It's a really weird record and I didn't like it at first, but I have really come to love it. I love to listen to it on my headphones in the middle of the night. I can't really tell you why, but it seems to be best heard around 3 am. I purchased that Iron & Wine album last year, but haven't gotten into it yet. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. :rsmile: Jeff / formerly AfricaBrass
  20. I listened to that LP almost daily for a couple of years when I was in High School. Let's see... During the late 80's, I constantly listened to Coltrane's Africa Brass (MCA single cd) and David Crosby's If I Could Only Remember My Name. During the 90's I listened to a lot of Stereolab, especially Mars Audiac Quintet. Now, I find myself going from album to album (and city to city) like a gypsy. I do listen to a lot of Jimmy Bryant and Speedy West. Their Bear Family Box set is probably the most played item for me during the last few years. :rsmile: ----------- Jeff / formerly AfricaBrass
  21. I've never purchased from Dusty Groove, but this would be a great opportunity. I've searched their site many times, and there's so many treats. :rsmile: ---------------- Jeff / formerly AfricaBrass
  22. Thanks for all your help, Daniel! Your advice has made a huge difference in my mp3s. Since I'm ripping my entire collection, this means a lot to me. :rsmile: --------------- Jeff / Formerly AfricaBrass
