  1. Happy Birthday!
  2. Yeah, hence "fwiw." I didn't think they'd make it to the 2nd round last year--and hell if they didn't almost make it to the conference finals. With the emergence of Bynum and Farmar, I'd be lying if I didn't have a little more hope than last year. If Odom isn't healthy, they might not even be a playoff team.
  3. Well, they did just beat San Antonio and Houston back to back, fwiw.
  4. Lamar Odom with a strained MCL, out 6 weeks. This will really slow the Lakers down.
  5. I'm glad everything went well, and wish you a speedy and complete recovery!
  6. There's not enough shots in four quarters for one of them, much less both.
  7. The list is limited to albums available on emusic, fwiw.
  8. If Kupchak trades Odom for AI, y'all may see me weep. At most we'd better ship out Smush Parker, Sasha Vujacic, and Chris Mihm.
  9. Maybe the Mavs will get Iverson to be the "Answer" to all their problems!
  10. If the average user is like me, he or she stopped downloading from iTunes the moment he or she knew iTunes' songs are "protected AAC" files. I'll take hassle-free files whose format I can alter, thanks.
  11. Happy Birthday!
  12. Best of luck, Jim.
  13. Mingus Atlantic Box Fuller Mosaic JJJ Mosaic Miles Davis Plugged Nickel box various RVGseses gigantic Concord order ...realizing I need to spend even more time with all of the above.
  14. Clint Hopson at JC told me I'm "as obnoxious as House without the limp." It doesn't meet the intentionally awkward/flawed criteria of this list, but it's pretty funny.
  15. "Robin Williams, I hate you."
  16. Not a dream I've had more than once, but I thought some of you might find this entertaining... I had this strange dream last night where I was at a party with a roomful of really hot chicks, all of whom were sitting on the floor in front of me as I sat on a couch. I tried to strike up a conversation with this sexy brunette to my right and struck out, then a few of them were giggling and whispering to each other about me. The party soon got really wild and people were drinking heavily all over the place--I saw someone puke, then a bunch of girls toppled over and slid down a slope on the side of the house. Suddenly my older brother's huge friend Kenny "Yeti" Meyer arrived and the party seemed to be instantly populated by my people my brother's age. Meyer was on a microphone giving some sort of inspirational speech. Then the USC & UCLA bands and cheerleading squads were coming up the street as I watched an obese man and woman have sex on the same muddy hillside the girls slid down earlier. The dream changed again, and suddenly I was being hunted by my friend's crazy younger brother Roy, who was shooting at me with a handgun from a rooftop down the way. I woke up thinking, "what the hell was that?"
  17. If Kupchak were Zeke Thomas, he'd try to get AI on the Lakers. The Lakers are playing too well to mess with the chemistry. Big win over the Spurs last night. Kwame Brown, Luke Walton, and Jordan Farmar were excellent.
  18. At one point in my youth I contemplated being a marine biologist because I find this sort of discovery so fascinating. Unfortunately, I'm too claustrophobic for deep sea exploration. Thanks for posting this, regularpepsicola. The fish and invertebrates which live in complete darkness yet produce their own biological light are just incredible. I love nature's complexity.
  19. All I had to see was Michael Liggins! "Loaded To The Gills" is a favorite. That Spanish funk rock comp looks good too. I'm going to order them for sure. Thanks John!
  20. I haven't heard of those John, now I'm on the hunt! There's also some cool 2cd sets called The First Days Of Funk from the Electrostatic folks, but they're a bit spottier than the Funkaphonix discs. Black Chains & Exhaust is another good one. The Dusty Fingers series on Strictly Break Records is fun too. In addition, they put out those sample-give-away records with songs sampled by De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, and others.
  21. The entire Funkaphonix series on Electrostatic and the Natural Funky series on Soul Patrol are my favorites. They go out of stock fast on Dusty Groove, but they're all worth checking out. I also like the BGP comps such as King Funk or Westbound Funk or Superfunk or Get Your Lie Straight.
  22. Happy Birthday!
  23. Both are invaluable sources of music knowledge. Come back, guys! Very True! But unfortunately, in Chris' case at least, he seemed far more interested in posting about politics than about jazz. That's his right, of course, but I'm more interested in his "music knowledge." If he did leave simply because Dolan arrived, well that's just pathetic. I said it with the hope that he'd come back and post about music. I also love his thread about the odd snippets of memorabilia he has in storage.
