Happy Birthday!

Yes, David Allan Grier on In Living Color.
-
Wrote a song about it--like to hear it? Here it goes...
-
Well, he's young and rubbery. They threw a knee brace on it and Melo's back in the game.
-
Carmelo Anthony just went down in a heap real awkward-like on a rebound as his legs were entangled with Marcus Camby's. All of Denver is shitting themselves waiting for a report on this injury. He walked off on his own power, but this really hurts the McNugget's chances...
-
I think I fixed it.

She liked it, they had it on a wall in their house! The whole series of portraits of my friends were skateboard size. The portrait of the the dude with the white cap is a copy of the Johnny "Guitar" Watson album AIN'T THAT A BITCH. I could only fit a portion of it on the scanner. I'm also confused why these are so huge on the screen--I made them all 5 inches in Photoshop. What happened?
-
That is my good friend's girlfriend Joanna. I did a bunch of portraits of my oldest friends.

Thanks Chris! I need to pick up my production, I haven't been painting near enough--maybe I'll try a Miles painting...

Thanks Philly Q!

I made a couple compositions with a photo B-3er sent me, but they are by no means for the next cd. I'll post them when I get home. When B-3er sends me some new materials and asks me to get started on it, I will proceed...

Hot. Hot hot. Africa hot. Tarzan couldn't take this hot.

The Mailman had his biggest game as a Laker. The game was gut-wrenching to watch, with the Lakers blowing a 14 point lead in the 4th quarter. The Lakers had 79 points for what seemed like forever, failing to execute the offense and forcing up bad shot after bad shot. C'mon SS1, I like the Admiral and Turtlehead Duncan--they're class players. I've enjoyed watching Shaq dunk on both of them many times. After this series, I don't like Steve Francis. He's a big mouth. He should be quiet, especially after Kobe humiliated him with a dunk early in today's game. By the way he hacked Kobe IN THE FACE on that one, NO CALL. In crunch time, Big Mouth Franchise should defer to class player Jim Jackson. While I'm talking about players I hate, I hate that sky-pointing hack Doug Christie more than any other NBA player. Next in line is his flopperina partner Vlade Divac. Then there is Christie's clone, Bruce Hack Bowen. If they called half the fouls this guy gets away with while guarding Kobe he'd foul out by halftime. The refs turn a blind whistle and the announcers call it "great defense." After that it's Reggie Miller, even though I'm a Bruin fan and he's pretty clutch. After reading a few disparaging stories about Allan Whiner Iverson, I don't like that cat too much. He's a great scorer, too bad he's such a jerk. You'd think he would realize sooner or later that his style of play isn't going to win in the NBA and adjust to play more like Tony Parker or JKidd. Speaking off Kidd I know he's the best PG in the NBA, but I really hate his stupid kiss-blowing routine at the free throw line. Just friggin' play, you know?

What's so hard to believe? Sure, you got a good price for your cds, but were they really crap? If not, then chances are someone else will buy them for $7-10. That's how the used cd/record system works. You sell something you don't value and I buy it because I do. The storeowner makes a little profit, and everyone goes home happy. Now you might ask yourself, "Who in their right mind would sell the great vinyl I picked up at that store?" It doesn't matter, since you, me, and most of the other people on this board depend on that other person to sell their stuff so we can get oop titles we've been looking for. It's a great system imo, one that I've been a part of for the past 25 years. Among the stuff I traded in: Grover Washington, Jr. SOULFUL STRUT--apparently Mr. Magic had run out of magic at this point Bob James PLAYIN' HOOKY--blaaah sickly sweet. This one and the previous had been denied in many previous attempts to sell Goodie Mob WORLD PARTY--this is one of the worst rap cds EVER Best of Tower Of Power--terrible compilation, I've heard WAY better from this group The Pixies--forgot to send in the card telling them NOT to send me this one Outkast ATLIENS (censored version)--Columbia House neglected to tell me all the bad words were edited out. One of the best rap cds ever, ruined Eddie Harris 2cd Atlantic best of/Kirk 2cd best of--I'd rather have the whole albums, and I disagree with the choice of tunes Jimmy McGriff MCGRIFF AVENUE--sorry Jimmy, not feelin' it. Another automatic shipment I neglected to deny Best of Billy Paul ME & MRS. JONES--I was hoping for so much more. I've heard better songs by Billy Paul than the ones included here. "When It's Your Time To Go" is better than anything on this comp. If someone will pay $7 for any one of these, I'd be shocked. In exchange, I picked up nearly the entire JB's discography on vinyl at $9 each. I'm still giddy.

Um, Chuck--the Lakers have four all-star caliber players, not six--and a bunch of role players. I think Phil should have been a serious candidate for coach of the year. The Lakers had tons of injuries and drama but still remained in contention in the toughest conference. Payton did not have an all-star year. Malone was hurt a good percentage of the season. Shaq and Kobe both spent time off with injuries. Devean George had a massive shooting slump. Rick Fox returned from foot surgery and played like he missed a year of hoop (really, he has yet to return to form). Slava Medvedenko and Kareem Rush have been worked into being more active in the offense...this was not a year that an ordinary coach could have handled as well as Phil has.

Congratulations Jim!

I traded in a bunch of cds that I didn't care about today, about 15 cds--mostly "best ofs." Dude behind the counter does the numbers and tells me "$72 credit." I couldn't believe it. I went looney in the vinyl reissue section and picked up $70 worth. There was still $2 credit, and they gave it to me in cash. So they basically took a stack of crappy cds from me and then paid me $2 to take a bunch of crisp, sealed records off their hands. Then to top it off the dude handed me back my 2cd Rahsaan Roland Kirk Atlantic best of set and says it is too damaged, and was not included in the credit. Aron's Records in Hollywood. Great place. So what luck has everyone else had trading in the stuff you don't want? Tell your stories here.

Wooderson: Hey man, you got a joint? Squidly kid: Um, no. Wooderson: Be a lot cooler if you did.

Very poor showing by the Lakers. Many squandered opportunities. The Rockets hit 10+ three pointers...

I'm a fan of early reggae, but I haven't invested much into it. I have some Marley, Tosh, Scratch Perry, King Tubby, Scientist, and a mix of dub by Madlib called "Blunted In The Bomb Shelter." I want to check out some of the stuff I see here...

Black College Women Take Aim at Rappers
Noj replied to BERIGAN's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
"...sisters with good minds, get no respect when Their ass is all hangin out, playin the bar section of the club shake what your mama gave ya, back to the lab I drop the truth, cause rhyming is more than just my craft Or a way to get ass, or fast cash, or blasted Black women, make sure you're respected... ...Knowledge, wisdom, and understanding is the key to wealth Put some clothes on that ass if you respect yourself With those hooker type wears hon you're, playin yaself With those skin tight jeans baby you're, playin yaself Everything all exposed you're, playin yaself You're, playin yaself, you're, playin yaself Everything all exposed you're, playin yaself With those skin tight jeans baby you're, playin yaself With those hooker type wears hon you're, playin yaself You're, playin yaself, you're, playin yaself" --Jeru Tha Damaja -
The Grizz really choked last night. I've never seen so many good opportunities squandered. Three players dribbled off their legs on crucial possessions.

Nice picks Claude! I especially like that Stranglers tune--I bought the Snatch Soundtrack with that in mind... How 'bout: - How Soon Is Now? (The Smiths) - Bedbugs & Ballyhoo (Echo & The Bunnymen) - Ghost Town (The Specials)
