  1. How 'bout that tirade by Buddy Rich at his bandmates on the bus? Wow, what a jerk! However, I've heard some good tunes by Buddy Rich. I generally wouldn't associate the personality with the music.
  2. Am I now restricted to posting all my stupid questions in this thread? What the hell will I post in other threads?
  3. Happy Birthday! I'm reminded of the scene from When Harry Met Sally when Billy Crystal's character explains to Meg Ryan's that contrary to her claims she certainly did not have great sex with "Sheldon"--"Oh yeah SHELDON, you're an animal SHELDON, give it to me SHELDON"--If she did she "wouldn't be here with him" but would still be with "Sheldon The Wonder Schlong."
  4. Thanks again Alexander! It is a fine disc--entirely music I had no previous exposure to.
  5. My picks, using Chucky's post for a primer... Minnesota over Denver, 4-1 Sacramento over Dallas, 4-1 San Antonio over Memphis, 4-1 LA over Houston, 4-0 Indiana over Boston, 4-0 Miami over New Orleans, 4-3 Detroit over Milwaukee, 4-0 New Jersey over New York, 4-0 Sacramento over Minnesota, 4-3 LA over San Antonio, 4-3 Indiana over Miami, 4-1 Detroit over New Jersey, 4-3 LA over Sacramento, 4-3 Detroit over Indiana, 4-3 LA over Detroit, 4-1
  6. Thanks!
  7. Hey Brandon--do you have a link to a site where Dante's comp is sold? Dusty Groove doesn't seem to have it, and it was sold out on another site. I saw it referred to as "ridiculously rare."
  8. If anyone has a copy of a compilation called FILET OF SOUL, I would be willing to PAY for a cdr. My friend used to have a vinyl copy of this FILET OF SOUL, and it was unbelievably funky. Unfortunately my friend djs professionally and it was stolen at a gig (along with the contents of an entire crate).
  9. I have Funky 16 Corners--good stuff. I've got a pretty decent collection of compilations of funk 45s--King, Soul Patrol, Electrostatic, Soul Fire, Strictly Breaks, Ubiquity, Desco, Stax, Brainfreeze...I love those simple funky grooves with hard hitting bass lines and fatback drums. If anyone wants to trade cdrs, let me know. I am looking for more compilations called "Natural Funky," which have yielded some of the best funk I've ever heard. I currently have 6 of them.
  10. I hate that they try to rank them. Roseanne Barr funnier than Eddie Murphy? Bill Mahr funnier than Billy Crystal? Sheeeeit.
  11. So the NBA is going to stiff 'Melo. This slight will probably motivate the Syracuse product to play well today...
  12. The nine point third quarter was hideous. Malone's ankle must have been messing with him, he missed a lot of shots he usually makes. The Lakers can't expect to win playing so sloppy. I don't think they can play worse.
  13. It's a floor wax you hag!
  14. Makes me wish I had collected cards when I was young. Never did that. Do you collect cards SS1?
  15. I've lived in Burbank my whole life, so I've been in a couple good-sized ones. The Northridge quake was the biggest one I've been in--the earth shook violently and for sustained amount of time, changing in intensity several times. It was then followed by powerful, rolling aftershocks throughtout the day. The shaking isn't as scary as the noise. The day that followed one quake had some of the strangest weather--Really hot all of a sudden, then windy, then a freak storm with thunder and lightning that lasted a half hour, then hot again...
  16. I wouldn't look past Houston just yet. Malone's ankle is sprained, and the Lakers are way better with the Mailman than without. Yao has had some success against Shaq. There are match-up problems with some players--Mobley, Francis, Jim Jackson, Mo Taylor... I think the Lakers can win but the Rockets are no chumps. Is Francis healthy? Shaq is the jab, softening up the opposing defense all game. Kobe is the knock out punch, turning it on at crunchtime. Malone sets the table. When Payton mixes in his scoring, it is downright scary.
  17. Sorry Rainy. I thought the first part was directed my way.
  18. I in no way "trashed" Ron Thorne, a poster I really like and respect.
  19. Offensive to whom exactly? Why? How? Ron Thorne. He was probably kidding, but if I recall he said it was scary and asked me to take it down. I thought it was such a bizarre request that I played along.
  20. On another board, my Invisible Man avatar is considered offensive by one member!
  21. I can. I've got Reuben Wilson on right now.
  22. You know what it's like to fall down...in the mud...and get kicked...in the head...with an iron boot? Of course you don't Striker, forget that part, skip that part!
  23. Do you like to watch movies about gladiators?
  24. Not what I expected from PFunkJazz. What's the deal?
