An upcoming Polwechsel + Klaus Lang release on Hat Hut: https://www.hathut.com/ . A cause for celebration, as far as I am concerned - this is a fantastic band.
-
They are not difficult (or expensive) to find.
-
Yes for Schönberg and Feldman albums. Also, Tenney and Lou Harrison stuff is good. Soviet Avantgarde piano works (both volumes) are strong, if a bit frenetic in Schleiemacher's hands. Both Polwechsel releases are classic, were hugely innovative at the time of their release. And Wolff's "Early Piano Pieces" (with much more restrained Schleiemacher here)! All the hat[now]ART releases (as well as other Hat Hut stuff) are available at Spotify.

This does not look like Coleman.

Amazon, Apple and Spotify probably have the same selection. Once the rights owners decide to go streaming there is no incentive for them to limit themselves to just one service. I use Spotify because I have this cheap Gramofon (https://gramofon.com) thingy (I don't even know what it's called - router? DAC?) that allows me to play Spotify on my old audio system, and I think it does not work with amazon yet. But I might switch to amazon because it's slightly cheaper (for Prime members) and because of the impending HD streaming, although I am honestly just fine with whatever the top resolution on Spotify is.

A new (actually, recorded in 2001) digital release by Tobis Delius, Cor Fuhler and Dylan van der Schyff: https://whirrboom.bandcamp.com/album/fietstour . I skimmed through, sounds very nice. And it's a "name your price" download, cheapskates rejoice! Well, all van der Schyff bandcamp releases are "name your price": https://whirrboom.bandcamp.com/music

Yeah, I am with Allen on this one. I used to like Brötzmann a lot, seen him live numerous times (and just checked - have 47 of his albums!). Every time he tries to play "tunes" his technical limitations are painfully apparent. One of the recorded examples would be the trio session "Songlines" with Rashied Ali and Fred Hopkins. As an aside, Allen, since you mention Braxton and standards, could you please provide your perspective on these? I honestly don't get it - to me, as a non-musician with far from perfect ears - this sounds like horrendous playing:

A lot of tracks are without Vandermark. Can we get a devandermarked version?
-
Yes, a good one too.

Available on Spotify. Eicher is doing everything right targeting the two growing music consumption segments - vinyl and streaming. CD prices have collapsed, does not make sense for high-cost deluxe packages that are likely to sell merely in hundreds. Downloads sales are declining even faster than CD ones, a dying concept. Recent relative (from microscopic to miniscule) vinyl resurgence is just a fluke, make (a bit) of money while you can, but streaming is here to stay.

The Enja CD is already bass heavy, and if Solid does remastering with additional bass boost (as they seem prone to do), this one will be unlistenable.
-
Maybe my favorite Lacy album.

From back in the day when ECM (JAPO, to be exact) had some balls.

Is Dennis González OK? There have not been any new recordings for quite some time now. Love his music. Have been listening to "Dance Of The Soothsayer’s Tongue (Live At Tonic)" non-stop for the last few days.
-
Hmmm, Assif Tsahar - have not heard his music in years. Will check out what's on Spotify. But right now need to decide if I want to go see Atomic live tonight.

K2B2 by Marty Krystall and Buell Neidlinger: https://k2b2.com/ PNL records by Paal Nilssen-Love: https://pnlrecords.bandcamp.com/ NEMU by Albrecht Maurer and Klaus Kuhgel: http://www.nemu-records.com/ A lot of people, really. It is easy these days. You won't make money anyway. -
Oh, I did not know he focuses on viola now. Cool. This new release is nice (and very well recorded) - but very very soft, samey and sort of static. Of Mat's recent releases I really liked the trio with Albrech Maurer (on violin) and Lucian Ban in NEMU: http://www.nemu-records.com/nemu-015.html . More tension and variety there, interesting contrast of violin and viola. I listened to it on Spotify so often and enjoyed it so much I bought the CD, which does not happen too often these days.

New Mat Maneri Quartet album, "Dust" on Sunnyside. I love it when Maneri plays viola, and it's always a pleasure to hear the drummer, Randy Peterson. https://sunnysidezone.com/album/dust-3

I think Guillermo E. Brown was almost universally derided when he joined the band. I did not like his playing that much (did not hate it either), but never though he was the main problem - merely the third most boring player in the band. Now, if only they played the String Quartet No. 15 in A minor, Op. 132 all would have been just fine.
-
The only David S. Ware album I liked was "Corridors & Parallels" (AUM Fidelity, 2001) - and it was only thanks to Shipp's creative synth playing. Otherwise - yawn, as far as I an concerned. I saw his quartet live once around 2004-05 (right after a terrific Happy Apple set), and it was pathetic - formulaic boring fire music.

Zappa was a special case. The masters were bought back. There were some threats of lawsuits in both directions between Zappa Family Trust and Ryko, this was definitely not a smooth process. Ryko's acquisition by Warner was not the main driver behind the transfer of Zappa's masters (although this might have helped - there is a well-publicized historical mutual Zappa / Warner animosity).

You probably know about it, but just in case - you can download all (?) FMP titles through Destination Out!, and official digital outlet for FMP: https://destination-out.bandcamp.com/ "14 Love Poems" CD version has 10 more titles than the LP.
