  2. That's a great name and she certainly is a cutie. Does this make all of us virtual Aunts and Uncles? -- Uncle Upright
  3. Do you mean that sicky sweet bubbly crap you have to drink when the restaurant doesn't know how to make a decent cup of coffee? Its called, "Oh waitress, this coffee tastes as bad as the first cup you brought me. I guess I'll have a pop."
  4. He hit you and left the scene of the accident and the cop didn't do anything! With witnesses! I'm glad you are okay.
  5. I always hated all of the asking for money parts. Discussing price before and asking for the money after.
  6. Don't do it man! I've been there and all I can say is just don't do it!
  7. My 20 GB mp3 player comes to work with me every day. I have to use headphones which begin to annoy me pretty quickly. When I really need to concentrate I have to turn it off. If a REALLY need to concentrate I turn the music off and leave the headphones on, that way people don't get annoyed when I ignore them.
  8. I voted for no limits but I have difficulties compiling comments to even single CDs. I feel that in order to make a decent comment I need to sit down and focus solely on the CD. I, like many others, find that hard to do with even one CD.
  9. Be careful what you wish for! I suppose I'd be in *real* trouble if I found a masturbating certified public accountant! I was wondering why my tax returns were kind of sticky this year... HEY, WATCH IT! We have the same accountant and you know there is no way he could stop smoking long enough to masterbate.
  10. This is true. I quit last November when the rules changed. I re-upped last month and it didn't remember anything that I have downloaded before.
  11. Hmmm... My wife says she kisses my ass all the time but it doesn't seem that way to me.
  12. Licking is a doggie kiss. If you haven't been kissed by your dog, you haven't truly felt the love he feels for his master. They "kiss" my wife. I'll take mine by proxy.
  13. I have two greyhounds, they get their teeth brushed almost daily. I love them dearly. I would be happy to let them kiss me. However, they don't kiss, they lick. No thank you very much.
  14. New strings for the Upright Bass on Friday morning. Possible trip to Elderly Instruments on Saturday morning. Nice restaurant on Sunday for Bunny dinner.
  15. The Animal Song (sung to the tune of Happy Birthday) Hippo Birdie Two Ewes Hippo Birdie Two Ewes Hippo Birdie Dear Ewes Hippo Birdie Two Ewes
  16. I'd say it can't be done. .... But three recordings that convey the heart and soul of jazz? You'll quickly be back to 'what is jazz?' and the usual disagreements. You are absolutely right. See the last line in my previous post.
  17. I find your three very interesting because its very close to the three that I frequently use. Often my choices are: Charles Mingus: Ah Um Cannonball Adderly: Somethin' Else (and I explain why this is actually a Miles Davis CD) If its a guitar student then either Joe Pass: Virtuoso #3 or Jim Hall & Ron Carter: Alone Together A bass student gets something by either Ray Brown, Milt Hinton or Red Mitchell After thinking about this and reading some of the previous posts I realized that I don't really care to show the "heart and soul of Jazz" but I really want to "Sucker Them In"
  18. You can't go wrong with Mingus (IMHO) in any circumstance!
  19. I've tried to find the Smithsonian Collection for years now. Its out of print and I've never been able to talk the people that own it into selling it to me!
  20. Chuck, That brings me to a question I've wanted to ask for a long time but haven't. As a music teacher, I talk to my students frequently about jazz, how a particular technique would be used in a jazz context, how some jazz artist did something similar to what we are working on. As a result I'm often asked to recommend some albums to students that have no background in jazz. So, my question is: What 3 CDs can I recommend to a person that will convey the "heart and soul" of jazz? I chose the number 3 to limit the answer to an amount of money that anyone, that can afford to pay for music lessons, could afford and to an amount of music that an interested person could listen to in one sitting.
  21. Donald Byrd - Free Form (RVG Edition) Brian Bromberg - Choices
