  1. reading James Patterson - When the wind blows.
  2. no Hans, I only listened so far to the SACD layer versus the 3CD-Box K2's and can cast a similar vote for the AP's remastering. Cheers, Tjobbe
  3. Thanks for the feedback.. .thats what I suspected after the BN series had been made available. Mine arrived already, but as I'm on the road right note they have to wait for another week and I can tell this is hard for me. Cheers, Tjobbe
  4. not really I still have Waltz for Debby as AP SACD and I would see the SACD as a slightly better choice, but comparing the RedBook layers only... I would rate that rather an academic one. I personally bought that due to the attractive price here (25€ now, I paid a little less) and the nice box itself with the attractive booklet. Although I have to admit that I'm a bit Evans addicted so I might have taken decision not with clear mind.... Cheers, Tjobbe
  5. Hi, I own this box since quite a while and try, although not at home, answer some questions. To my understanding the mastering of the US K2 Fantasy releases of Sunday at and Waltz for Debby and the one of this box should be the same. I compared dates a while ago and the liner notes indicates at least this. The European box sold was simply the japanese one with a european label covering the original one. All in all, it looks nice with a fine booklet. What I found a bit disturbing was the interruption on Gloria's Step that cause one CD-P to halt... Cheers, Tjobbe
  6. Mark All -> Ctrl+A and than you select and apply a new Format Paste without Quotations -> CTRL+SHIFT+V or via the Edit tab and you get it flat in and format later. Cheers, Tjobbe
  7. mhhh, I just tried it.. What happens is that it insert this as Paragraph first, so you need to "mark all" and change this to Body text. It just did it for me now. Alternative would be to use the "PAste without Quotation" Cheers, Tjobbe
  8. you have a toolbar->formatting tools were you than get a drill-down listbox displaying you the type of formatting and by choosing Body Text as selection, you should get the "Normal" view... Cheers, Tjobbe
  9. a happy birthday to Minnesota.. at least to one there Cheers, Tjobbe
  10. I'm not sure if it sounds better than the K2 but its definetely an improvement when compared to the regular Fantasy release I had before. I guess the SACD is simply easier to get in Germany. For me although Guaraldi always tends to be on the lighter side of Jazz and always had the entertainment of his audience in mind, he is one of the artist where I can choose what -more or less - ever record from my collection and do not have the feeling that it doesn't fit. This record is definetely not his best in terms of playing Jazz so you will find more attractive ones specially playing Bola Sete and with... Cal .. who else, but this single record opened the door to Jazz to me at a very early stage (and remember.. Jazz in not very common on Radio over here even year ago) Cheers, Tjobbe
  11. I wanted to add one great artist to the list of those who made it to Organissimo’s Album of the Week and with that one of his most famous recordings which brought me (but many other as well) to jazz as a kid...and his music still works fine for me. In retrospective I can say that a little piece of three minutes of Guaraldi's music was the first jazz tune I really loved when I was 7 or 8 as my dad switched on that TV show regularly on German TV in late 60’s and early 70’s for the kids to watch. Its funny to think about what type of music brought me to jazz and how much influence a particular tune can have. I do believe that Linus and Lucy is one of the Jazz Tunes that many listeners do immediately recognize, maybe without knowing the artist but having the same kind of “flashback” that I do have. It creates an atmosphere of “all is well” and why having the blues when you can listen to those tunes. When ever I hear that Linus and Lucy intro, I get thrown back into my child hood (where not everthing was fun, but…) , wonderful thoughts come across my mind (won’t tell you which…), I feel somehow save and secure and I can sink deeply into music. The album start’s with some piano sneakin’ in on Oh, Good Grief already setting the right mood for the “show”, only track I normally tend to skip is Schroeder… not sure why. Beside the typical Peanuts associated songs, you’ll find with Blue Charlie Brown and the “extra” Fly me to the moon to typical Guaraldi piano trio recordings that would be a perfect match for other non-peanuts sets. A boy named Charlie Brown (originally titled Jazz impressions of A boy named Charlie Brown) has been recorded in 1964 for Fantasy Records and features Monty Budwig on Bass and Colin Bailey on drums… and it finally made it to the re-issue list with a K2 and an SA-CD release (the later has replaced my “old” OJC I bought in.. guess where…) Let discuss from here, have fun ! Cheers, Tjobbe
  12. Hi Brad, yes this one is a must if you do not have those. What I'm wondering about what mastering has been used here as some of them arer similar like within that BlueNote Series available in different versions... I just got myself some of those who are out of OOP (like the Clarke/Boland). I've seen that there is one Bill Evans (Symbiosis) that I've never hear before...maybe thats another one to pick later. Cheers, Tjobbe

  16. I'm not using skype as I use VoIP via a local provider offering me flat rates into the german land-line network, but all in all I was able to cut my overall communication costs for broadband, Internet and Phone access by half..... My prob with Skype is: you need you PC switched on still, VoIP (via SIP) does work as extention to regular phones with black boxes inserted. Cheers, Tjobbe
  17. THIS is the news release of the FEMA on the Hurrican Pam Exercise of 2004 ok.. the catastrophie was there last week as expected, predicted in 3 days advance of Katrina's landfall...now answer yourself what is not right with the response.... Cheers, Tjobbe

  19. while Cheney is still buying his new house, here some story where all the forign help is... From todays Washington post Cheers, Tjobbe
  20. would have been to nice thanks Claude ...
  21. Hi Sonny, one potentially good news for the europeans. The latest BN RvG batch out for sale on 26.09 in Germany seems to be without any copy protection at least according the track listing by www.jpc.de (as they are normally very accurate at those as long as they do have the information) In the preview section JPC currently list 21 BN's and non shows a CopyControlled so potentially I'll buy some of them from jpc (at least the price is good: 7,77€ at the moment on pre-orders) So let's cross fingers that they revert that stupid crap .... Cheers, Tjobbe EDIT: just send out a request to jp customer service for clarification.
  22. Hi Sonny, I know your problem first hand... the only country where. at least up to now, the BN's are not having any CC is the US. I even received one from Canada with the CC on. with the current €-$ rates in mind and the fact that they go to dealers sooner, I tend to order them from US online shops. Cheers, Tjobbe
  23. ...one thing thats often reported here in my area are pictures and news coverage of the german THW (like the IS Army corps of engineers) sitting on packed bags waiting for US officials to let them in and help. The MEDIVAC (a high tech german army hospital Airbus) idles at Cologne Airport (that was in operations within 4days in Thailand and was flying out US soldiers from Kuwait on US request quickly) as well as there are reports that a Airforce Arbus carrying 10tons of food needed to heavily negotiate landing permission for Pensacola as they have been send over with a scheduled flight but unrequested by the US, but finally handed the the goods to the FEMA... with a second 15tons on a second flight now arriving on FEMA request... The perception over here is: We can offer help, but if its so hard to help if you get the feeling that it is not wanted...(by the government... as I guess the people suffering don't care where the help comes from) remember: The December 26th Tsunami was an unexpected terrible incident but within 3-4 days help from all around the world was there.... why did it take 5 days in case of NO and around to get coordinated help in ? Cheers, Tjobbe
  24. Word! ← jup, but if you ask the guys, they will sell you the original US masters for the same price when printed in germany.... Only issue: they do not have all available so you have to wait for US delivery and pay roughly 1€ more.... Cheers, Tjobbe
