  7. the Ginza and the Cape Verdean Blues do it for me at any time I hear them (but some other Guaraldi and Silver tunes work as well that way) What also works fine is the Little Lulu from the Bill evans Verve Trio '64 Cheers, Tjobbe

  11. bought roughly 20 CD's that are mostly OOP from a local dealer selling bargains. Mostly french NATO and DEUX Z label as well as some OOP Enja's, all issued between 1990 and 1996 .... need to listen them the next weeks...(Priced max 3€) Cheers, Tjobbe

Phil, the Dollar Brand session on the Jazz Colours CD is one Live from Copenhagen Jazzhus MOntmartre 30.02.1965 as per the booklet. As Allmusic lists the same recording date for the Black Lion one, I would rate 99,99% probability that this Series is simply a low budget release from old OOP Black Lion records....(which automatically makes me eager to look at other sessions ...) Cheers, Tjobbe

Hi Phil, I would assume they are the same as they are both sold by Deutsche Austrophon here in Germany (I bought some Ben Webster from that Jazz Colours series) DA homepage I bought the Ibrahim too, but haven't played it yet. They are availble here at www.jpc.de for 5€ each (39 titles in total) Cheers, Tjobbe
  16. Thanks Mike....
  17. Dana/Mike: would it be top late to ask for a copy of #22 please (Mike: assuming you do distribution, do you still have my mailing address ?) Cheers, Tjobbe
  18. I would have a look at Austrian Wolfgang Muthspiel (some stuff he did with his brother, with Rebekka Bakken or with his Trio), Czech Rudy Linka (scholar of Scofield) and Brasilian Baden Powell (some of his LP's are due to be re-release on MPS this year according to Universal germany) Cheers, Tjobbe
  19. folks, might sound funny, but there are lot of different reasons for this poll result, just naming few... - the polititians created the "phrase" in 1990 that within the re-united germany, no-one would suffer from this and the cost will pay-off by itself... which was - let me say it this way- not quite the truth... - when looking at areas in western germany, there are regions that have a similar un-employment rate, similar infrastructure problems but they pay more or less for the transfer money either. So if you ask them about their feeling (even politians of all parties) .. they also complain about it. - there has been a lot of money burried in senseless investments in east germany which is now missed everywhere.... - and its now hip to wish back the wall, as nobody asked -similar like the changes for EU constitution- what people want, as everywhelse in europe the people can express by vote what they think about the new common constitution, so this is - as I believe- just a way to express a lack of basic democracy (which is definetly missing with the german constitution which does not know any direct participation of the german people beside regular elections) EDIT: which was mainly a post-wwII decision not to do implement this direct involvement as it has created a huge mess within Weimar in pre Nazi-Area... ... and there might be more .... (History lesson finished ) Cheers, Tjobbe
  20. got them ALL (excluding the stupid compilations).... , do I need to say more Cheers, Tjobbe
  21. oh.. and they have a homepage in english over HERE maybe that helps... Cheers, Tjobbe EDIT: just checked the discography (in german only but should be fine) but their recordings are only listed from 1987 onward, starting with 2 NDR BB + Chet Baker Enja recording
  22. I don't know about the workshop stuff but you can get CD's from the NDR BigBand from various labels e.g. ACT http://www.actmusic.com/artists.htm#n\ Cheers, Tjobbe EDIT: thez list 5 ones inprint
  23. thanks all for your comments so far... meanwhile I bought - as the Chesky's were very cheap here- the Rosa Passos&Ron Carter one and even on PC with ear-kit it is so great ... Thanks, Tjobbe
  24. Thanks Jim, at least on Jobim, I should have enough insides as well as Mendes does mean something to me (although I would have connected him more to Pop stuff as to Bossa Nova) I personally like the early Eumir Deodato stuff, as well as Baden Powell ( as well as the Jim Hall and Charlie Byrd guitar style), but mainly the Bossa stuff I have results from records where the non Braziliens adopted this (which does not mean its bad ) So I see this batch of Elenco's as nice starter to easily get hands on more "authentic stuff" Cheers, Tjobbe BTW: the Emarcy is resulting from the fact that those are listed (at least in Germany) under the Emarcy label when you try to find them in the Amazon online Catalog, which is similar to the Sonets.
