  1. to add to the Kollers and CBBB, the German MPS label was throwing tons of good stuff on the market, where lot of them is re-issued meanwhile. ... you'll find some of them as Verve in the US. Cheers, Tjobbe EDIT: some other samples are the records Oscar Petersons did for them or some other german Fritz Pauer or Horst Jankowski,
  2. some 70's rock stuff that will never make it on CD: - Ray Manzareks Nite City LP's - Some UK Band called Charlie who's CD re-releases were so bad... - some german stuff from a band called Lake (where only some compilation has been re-issued on CD) - All my Pat Metheny ECM's Cheers, Tjobbe
  3. Thanks a lot Ray ! not to bad this time I guess, but I'm again following Mikes golden BFT rule: there is always one you have but didn't recognize... the Haden&Metheny is the one on that record that sounded to much like the former stuff with Lyle Mays that I have not got it right on the spot.. shame on me.. I guess I have to much of the Metheny's to properly identify them... B) Cheers, Tjobbe EDIT: but I least now do not need to feel guilty loving this BT track12 as i do not need to buy it now... (which would have been the one I put on my "to-buy" short list...puh)
  4. Alles Gute zum Geburtstag Jim... and my present is a optional link to an online German to English translator (if you realy require it B) ) Cheers, Tjobbe
  5. voted for Pop/Rock, but about 1,5years ago it was a 50/50 split, now ... very much less than 20% Rockmusic (but even there lot of stuff that shows some Jazzy roots) as even in my car its mainly Jazz now.... classic... rather seldom.... cheers, Tjobbe
  6. ohhh... I heard in the news the president of the US has been thrown out of his seat. ... which seat was is it ? the white house one or the other.. Cheers, Tjobbe
  7. just a question: is the board back now ? just want to ask as I it looks not for real here .... Cheers, Tjobbe
  8. I enjoy it.. but as JohnB says: no clue who the rest is Cheers, Tjobbe
  9. ..some add on thoughts on disc 1 that I left out initially: ad #2... I don't think this works for me... I only have one disc (Monty Alexander) where some Reggae and Jazz were combined... ad #4.. up to the violine...I would have gone for some Bill Evans like mood but then.. no clue ad #5 mhhhh not my taste.... ad #6 Garner maybe (the tune sounds very familiar but I cannot name it....) ad #8 Baltimore orioles (haven't we had this in a BT earlier ....)..no clue who sings ad #10 drumming B) , all I can say ad #11 I got plenty of nothing.. If that would be Vint BT .. my guess would be a John Zorns filmmusic piece, sounds like recorded for Disney .. but so.. ad #12 sound like movie too....ended in some Pat Metheny/Lyle mays like sound field... I have to admit: I like it ad #13 no clue... singing is not so much mine ad #14 mhhhh interesting mix sound like a Dixie-Boogie mix... no clue Ray ad #15 ....? ad #16 Bartz maybe the '73 recording ? and now I'll insert disk 2.. thanks so far Ray cheers, Tjobbe EDIT... and disc 2 starts great
  10. it happened to me 6years ago in the morning on the route to work... everything happened so quickly, hadn't even a chance to react. Luckily the deer was a young one and was thrown directly off the hood, sliding along the windshield over the roof... only roundabout 600$ damage and a dead deer Cheers, Tjobbe
  11. yes... couldn't agree more
  12. sorry but silence for a great drummer....I guess exactly the opposite would be good ! Cheers, Tjobbe
  13. If you listen closely you will hear one of the musicians announce "St. Louis Blues" at the beginning of track 1. But to fool you, he starts playing the main melody of "Summertime" instead, which, when played in the same key, which is not like they were written, works out very nicely. thanks Mike, that's what I searched for ! will try the rest of the disc first before reading the other comments.... Cheers, Tjobbe
  14. Hi Daniel, my workload is currently preventing me from properly getting your BT Disc the full attention it deserves.. so can you park me for the moment (hoping that the situation gets little bit better soon) Thanks, Tjobbe
  15. Hi Ray, got my disk yesterday and had a frist partial run in my car some minutes ago... some sound very familiar, some almost strange (or better beyond my taste but I will give those tracks a creful second try) at Track 1) Summertime was immediately popping up but is soemthing different (but not to far away from that) at track 3) Gil Scott Heron ? Lady day ...heard that someway back mid 70s at Track 7) some ECM Jan Garbarek comes into my mind (but is more a mood tzhat is created here) at track 9) I would guess that some else has already identified that as the Pepper Wichi-Tai-To from the Pow-Wow, or ? rest to follow after I have some time tomorrow Cheers, Tjobbe
  16. sorry Hans, you're absolutely right...sounds execellent anyway beside the disturbing drop out ...
  17. what I recommend buying from them are two boxes. The Complete live at Village vanguard 1961, which is a 3CD (EDIT: correction) K2 Box from Japan The Sonny Rollins 5CD Freelance box Cheers, Tjobbe
  18. Tjobbe, just imagine what people are going to think when they read this thread and Tony's post count is something cray like 63 or 78. They won't be able to make heads or tails out of it. nothing easier than that.. we can always add some postings and setting them back on track... Hey.. this is a friendly forum where we want to help each other...nobody is doing that simply for the postcount, or Cheers, Tjobbe (and 3700 to go)

  20. and to answer your A-Z question: no I haven't tried it so far but I guess it would simply take to much self control to not buy any new one during the listening period... Cheers, Tjobbe
  21. I do have some Adams. I'll have to start with him. WHAT!! You have nothing by the AARDVARK JAZZ QUARTET from Lesotho!! Tsk! Tsk!
