  1. Hi All, just landed in Malaysia and on that flight from Germany I heard some "on Board entertainment"...and they played a tune I immedeately loved It was on the Charlie Byrd Trio 1963 live concert called Blues for night people... Can anyone who knows this tell me if thats the best version of this tune (and if.. which CD release shall I buy now... ) Cheers, Tjobbe N.B. luckily, the other three tunes I liked much are already mine B-)
  2. got mine Dan... right before departure are copied to my MP3 player for travel. Cheers, Tjobbe
  3. Hello mlm, also from my end: welcome as I'm a huge fan of Gary Burton as well as Pat Metheny (and a regular listener to some Chick Corea stuff, although he's not my favourite player) I do like this line up quite well although I have to admit that the strongest performances of Gary Burton are those where he plays as Duet with a piano. There I can clearly recommend the Corea/Burton Zurich 1979 Concert on ECM (although you should watch out for the LP as the CD is only an exerpt of the concert) or even -to me at least- an extrodenary performance with Makoto Ozone on the Concord Virtuosi. Cheers and many posts here, Tjobbe EDIT: THE Corea/Burton must have is the Crystal Silence (why have I missed that above )
  4. Again.. thx a lot Marcus ! The Mereilles is also on my wish list Cheers, Tjobbe
  5. @mike: maybe amazon has some for you within their 8€ Atlantic (Warner/Rhino) Jazz offering with a lot of Coltrane, Herbie Mann, MJQ, etc some of them already listed in Spring In total you can find roughly 100 if you do a search HERE for Rhino Cheers, Tjobbe EDIT: Amazon.DE has reduced the price tag for the VME's to 9€

  11. Dan: email on its way.... Cheers, Tjobbe
  12. Hi Marcus.... I must say a lot if not all of the tunes sound very familiar to me #1 my guess would go for an early Eumir Deodato ... just a wild guess I know #2 the Tune should be M.D.'s Solar at least it sounds similar and the Tenor is also know but I cannot recall right now #3 #4 have heard that lately....(heard it on a Horace Silver compilation but it sounded different there...) #5 no clue, but I know that tune #6 an early Tjader maybe ? #7 sounds like a early 90's Chick Corea Electric Band to me #8 I believe thats Tyner or at least some one who exactly knows how he plays #9 It has that swing... modern version but still great. #10 a bass&drum... could thatbe from the Album Duets by Rob Wasserman ? #11 had some touch of Chopin, not my taste... the weakest one for me (at 1:10 there are some notes I know from some other tune.. #12 no clue .. starts like spanish baroque musique and goes on like some mid sixties film music... #13 ...no clue right now #14 Hancocks Maiden Voyage, #15...singers are not mine Cheers, Tjobbe
  13. you're welcome Claude... but the question remains: shall I replace now some of my old Bill Evans verves or not ? Cheers, Tjobbe
  14. Hi Daniel, this search for VME delivers you something like that guess the most secure way is to check the verve page and then go to the amazon.de/jpc.de Cheers, Tjobbe
  15. and the friends from jpc.de do offer them for the same price....so you have the freedom of choice... @Hans: at amazon you cannot search for them.. you need to know which they are. JPC returns 28 finds if you search by string. All Master series CD's you can get HERE Cheers, Tjobbe
  16. Thanks already Marcus , I did listen to your disc on the train twice yesterday...thats music for the summer B) , just putting down some guesses... Cheers, Tjobbe
  17. oh no.. I like to use public transport and encouter this as much more reliable then using car (taxi or private) but ....... !!you do not see anthing while being underground!! maybe you rate this aspect differently while living in that beautiful city all the time Cheers, Tjobbe
  18. although I had to much work the last two days and haven't found the time to get around much, I can tell you that Paris in August -beside shops closed- is great... because its the only time in the year where you can now use a Taxi to get from A -> B and are not required to use the RER or Metro... Ave. Hausmann to Gare du Nord in less then 15mins without breaking to many rules B) !!! Cheers, Tjobbe P.S. I'll be back in September
  19. I'm trying to stay awake as long as I can and after three days I'm so tired that my body can't refuse to fall asleep.... In my case I'm normally only in for 4-5 days working so I avoid changing my rhythm of sleep&awake times ... Will have this again in 4weeks from now Cheers, Tjobbe
  20. and thats what I currently see from my desk... no city, no town... nice Cheers, Tjobbe
  21. to avoid having to much unopened CDs stacked in my room I've switch over buying used CD's instead... does not solve the problem of having more unlistened music at home but makes you feel better... Cheers, Tjobbe
  22. simply: wouw ! Cheers, Tjobbe
  23. are you looking for this kind of device to create NTSC ? At EBAY they currently have this... so would convert PAL60 to NTSC and vice versa... although a little bit cumbersome Cheers, Tjobbe EDIT: an alternative solution might be looking for a pro device that might create an RGB signal that allows you to connect to NTSC video devices...(which is what I believe you want to do).. those new (but high priced D-HVS recorder are able to output native NTSC via RGB/Scart as I believe...but hey.. expensive)
  24. no, but that was on my shortlist.... Cheers, Tjobbe
  25. Hi Brownie, how are they priced in France (and where ahve you seen those ) As I'm in Paris again next week (Ahhh Paris...) maybe I have some spare time go shopping..... Cheers, Tjobbe
