I'm a longtime Threadgill fan who never manged to hear New Air with Andrew Cyrille until recently. Snatched a live radio broadcast of Rankweil 3/19/86 (Threadgill, Fred Hpkins & Cyrille) off of dime a dozen and just listened to it yesterday. Wow!!! A side of Threadgill I'd always wanted to hear! Extended soloing. More dense, driving and rythmic than Air. Great stuff. Would love to hear Hofheim from a few days earlier.

Thanks for the tip! I've placed my order. Hopefully it's still in stock.

Looks like most outlets are sold out of the mono box with none available until October.

If you mean bluesman Jimmy Rogers, he's already had similar treatment years ago: Complete Chess Recordings Yup.

All three of these just blow me away! Jackie McLean, Complete 1955-57. Obviously not his best stuff, but great none-the-less. Have been enjoying his later Blue Note, Steeple Chase & sideman stuff for years but never checked out his earlier stuff. The Kinks, Picture Book. Had only listened to 1 disc best of until I took this leap. Discs 1-3 are fantastic, #4 merely great & #5 good. #6 is marginal. Little Walter, Complete Chass Masters. For fans of post war electric Chicago blues, this is a must. Would like to see Jimmy Rogers' dates as a leader get similar treatment!

This is all subjective, personal taste.

I think his rhythms are kind of basic, "rock' like. His fills are ALL the same rapid rolls. He does a have small sound. And little variation. Liked Mars Williams better than Rempis. Liked Tim Mulvenna better than Daisy, but frankly not a big fan of his either. Vandermark seems to like a more basic "rock" beat for V5. LOVE Jeb Bishop & was sorry to see him leave V5. Of drummers from the Chicago/Vandermark scene, love Hamid Drake, Paal Nilssen-Love.

I have always considered Daisy rather weak.

Jackie McLean fan? Too good to be true bargain?

Just received mine from an Amazon seller. Paid $48 including shipping. -
My Rotel 1055 won't recognize TDKs or Memorex CDRs. Seems to accept everything else I try, including T-Ys. My other CD players will accept the TDKs and Memorex CDRs. The TDKs were on sale for $15 per hundred & I bough 4 spindles. Oh well . . .

Bought the Blues World of Little Walter on CD. Somebody went nuts with Cedar. Allen is right. Just purchased on lp on Gemm website.

Art Pepper - Complete Village Vanguard Sessions

Art Peper's peak was his stand at the Maiden Voyage in 1981. There's about 3 discs worth on the Complete Galaxy Recordings. Of course Winter Moon is the best jazz strings album ever. -
I've got a copy & I bet I haven't listened to it in a decade.

You didn't get the Warne Marsh - Ne Plus Ultra?! Only because I already own it!

I'd like to see all the Arthur Blythe and James Blood Ulmer stuff.

It has to happen eventually. I've been buying Blue Note CD re-issues for 10-15 years now (when did the connoisseurs first come out???). Certainly they've been re-cycling for years now. Connoisseurs are OOP so now we see RVGs. Doesn't seem like there's anything left. Of course Tyrone Washington's Natural Essence hasn't been re-issued in the US. Anything else in the Blue Note Vaults would re-issuing?
