  1. Can anybody suggest some good recordings of Wardell Gray & Dexter Gordon? Anyone know if the Proper boxes for these guys contain a good selection of their work togather? Thanks.

    David Murray

Which one? He's been married many times. It's been said that he releases soooo many records in a effort to stay on top of his support payments.
  3. Many Betty Boards are available for download at: http://forums.etree.org/viewtopic.php?t=6649
  4. Watched the bonus DVD included in the box last night. A throw-away. I don't expect much with these bonuses that are common now, but they've failed to meet my very low expectations.
  5. This is a good recording that I'm glad I own it, but certainly wouldn't obsess about not owning it. Get's played less than once a year.
  6. Dave Douglas's "Live at the Jazz Standard: The Full Book" can be downloaded in mp3 format from his site for $69.99. Too rich for me (although I'm sure Dave Douglas deserves it & this music is worth it). My budget issues. Now "9 Compositions (Iridium) 2006" on emusic fits even my (at present) limited budget.
  7. I could. Deep into Disc 3 now, and this music is clearly worth $120. Digging this very much. A little voice in my head keeps saying "you need the offical release", but another voice (my wife) says it not in the budget.
  8. Ah, another MOJO reader!
  9. Couldn't justify $120 bucks for this one, but was curious. Forked over the $14.95 to download mp3s from emusic. Listening to compostion 350 now.
  10. Has your credit card expired?
  11. Would like to read the articles. Could you post a link and/or cite? Thanks.
  12. I can very clearly remember being the in basement of Boston Store (a Milwaukee area department store) when I was 14 (1971) trying to choose between "There's a Riot Goin' On" or Rare's Earth's "One World". I chose Rare Earth. One of my first 2 or 3 lp purchases. I don't think I would have understood Riot back then. The thing about "There's a Riot Goin' On" is it's sooo dark compared to the prior lps.
  13. ah well . . ., excuse my rant.
  14. I'm baffled and apalled that "Hot Fun in the Summertime," "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)," and "Everybody Is a Star" are not included as bonus tracks on this box! It's not like they ran out of space! I know that these were non-lp singles, give me a break! So where will re-masters of these show up??? This is just horse shit.
  15. Mine was cancelled as well.
  16. $9.99 w/ free shipping seems too good to be true. Must be a mistake? Think they'll honor that price? Worth a shot. I ordered one!
  17. I like Black & Black, also a Red Barron release.
  18. I'm interested in John Law, “Abacus” (Hatology) [quartet w/ J. Lloyd, G. Hemingway]. peter@zwiefelhofer.com
  19. Yes, the Studio 20s offer much more detail.
  20. Picked-up the Paradigm Studion 20s yesterday & spent last evening and this morning listening to them. Very pleased so far.

    Ipod Questions

The gaps are in songs. Pretty much all my files come from CDs.

I've got the Nano, so no hard drive. Flash memory I believe. I'm starting to think it might be battery related. Seems better with a freshly charged battery.
  23. Wife inspected the Paradigm Monitor 7s today and deemed them "too large". We settled on the Paradigm Studio 20s. Of course the shop didn't have her preferred color so they are on order. The plan is to put them on the floor on some "hockey pucks" to isolate them from the floor. Sub-optimal, but a marital compromise.
