  1. Nice piece - I'm better acquainted with his earlier work. Some years ago what was then called All About Jazz New York did a piece on him that I thought was good. Maybe Andrey Henkin was the interviewer?
  2. It's not that good in my opinion. Do you need a copy?
  3. Excellent set. Now: Amon Düül II - Yeti - (Liberty UK)
  4. I think it was in 2005. Would have been rad to see him in the early '90s or even before that! Now: Come - Don't Ask, Don't Tell - (Beggars' Banquet UK orig)
  5. probably better to stay put.
  6. I feel like the earlier the better, but admittedly don't know their full discog all that well.
  7. Saw him once and it was a trip. RIP.
  8. Nice one. Now: Ritual 7-70 - s/t - (ESP-Disk')
  9. Love everyone on that record, together or apart!
  10. yeah, he did produce and or manage quite an amazing array of bands. Softs in the very early, Daevid Allen years as I understood it (I'm much more of a Dean-era fan).
  11. I like that one a lot; haven't heard it in years, however.
  12. yeah, I saw some pretty significant posts on social media from people who knew him well, so am gonna assume it's true and that he's gone.
  13. "Poo" was Kikuchi's nickname. He had a wonderful LP titled "Poo-Sun" on Philips.
  14. That looks like a nice one. Now: The Contemporary Jazz Quartet (feat. Sunny Murray) - Action - (Debut, DK)
  15. I'm hearing from a number of reputable (albeit non-familial) sources that the producer Giorgio Gomelsky (John McLaughlin, SME, Gong, Blossom Toes, Vangelis, etc.) has passed away. I hope it's not true but if so, quite a significant loss.
  16. I am pretty sure I've only listened to "Ghetto Lullaby" once. Need to revisit...
  17. Apple support call fixed me right up - something with the .itl file was weird so we made a new one and it's all good.
  18. Fund artists and small labels to do whatever they want. Donate a ton of money to the IJS and other jazz collecting archives. Give the Jazz Foundation of America money. Of course I haven't bought a ticket because the concept of playing the lottery bothers me.
  19. Nice set of tunes there - I have a Fresh Sound reissue of the Marable that was probably about $5 or $6. My copy of the McLean is a very, very thin matte sleeve with a flipback and I always assumed that was first, but who knows. Heavy stuff regardless.
  20. That's pretty damn cool. Looking forward to reading the article and Sangrey's point to the tradition and volume of these outfits rings true.
  21. yeah will do that in a bit... thanks.
  22. tried what mjzee said above and no dice, though in theory it should work.
  23. Alex Jones is a nut. I used to make fun of him until I realized that he has a TON of followers who act on his rantings and ravings.
  24. thanks dudes, will give it a whirl when back home tonight.
  25. Will get the Harold McNair and perhaps the Gene Shaw; have everything else I need.
