  1. Yeah, I'll have to grab these as well. The Time LP above is very good.
  2. sure. I have yet to pick up the 70s electric dates on Atlantic Japan (Quicksand) or Columbia Finland (Ode to Booker Ervin). Curious though.
  3. Re: Curson, The New Thing & The Blue Thing on Atlantic is easy to find and good. The Marge and Futura records are also strong, and the Whynot/Trio LP (Blue Piccolo) is okay. I'm not as big a fan of Plenty of Horn or the Prestige record - they're all right, nice dates, but he hadn't grown into Ted at that point.
  4. A tremendous artist - RIP.
  5. Marion Brown - Solo Saxophone - (Sweet Earth)
  6. Every Trost LP I've had has been pretty poor in the pressing quality department. How does this one sound?
  7. Un-numbered second editions are certainly not uncommon in the world of record collecting or book collecting, prints, etc. The numbered edition should be able to retain its value against the later, un-numbered edition. I personally don't care if some handmade, edition of 25 noise LP that I own gets reissued down the line. Bigger things to worry about.
  8. hmm, the CD sounds fine although I understand that the music is different on each.
  9. Haha. Well, it's just ridiculous at this point. Someone needs to advise those dudes on how the market works. Flooding it cannot be done at top dollar!
  10. yeah, that's what's stupid. They could blow 'em all out at reasonable prices and move on, maybe even paying for clean digital copies with some amount of legitimacy (I don't know what HORO did as far as contracts, etc).
  11. PASS.
  12. I wish that box was sturdier. The Cecil box is so nice, heavy and glossy.
  13. Umar Ali !! I've had my copy for over a week now (ex Jazz Messengers) - SQ is much better (official tapes) than the incomplete spanish version (taken from the radio broadcast) If it's Rashied and Muhammad's brother, it's Omar.
  14. Close Up was part of that box, yes.
  15. Kraftwerk - s/t - (Philips GER)
  16. yeah, I heard the first one at a friend's house years ago - cool record. I was of course under the influence of "perception enhancing/altering material" so YMMV.
  17. sounds like a plan!
  18. ah looks like Craig Moerer is selling it. I'll ask him - wonder if the box is hacked or reasonable?
  19. My fault for not realizing Tardo Hammer was a real musician; I glossed over his name in the comments and thought for some reason it was supposed to be Mike Stern commenting under a pseudonym. I would hope that most musicians/people (myself included) have other things to do than hang out on a message board all day...
  20. Wish I'd had the chance to interview him. Saw him a couple of times, spoke with him once and he was very nice and funny.
  21. that Masotti photo is great.
  22. I interviewed Kent years ago for All About Jazz. I am not sure if it's still up (that site SUCKS) but I may re-edit and re-publish it at some point. Fascinating character. Still have about 2 hours of tape from that although not all of it was pertinent (talking about women, etc.). The String Trio was I think his most recent active ensemble, by the way. Unless I've missed something in the last 6-7 years. Ah I see that Summer 2009 set - looks like an outgrowth of the String Trio. Will have to seek it out.
  23. It is only now that I realized this is a different set from the other Argo double LP of Poetry and Jazz in Concert. So that means I need it too...
