  1. Hungarian Folk Music: Magyar Nepzene I (Qualiton/UNESCO) LP 1
  2. NoBusiness uses a pressing plant in Lithuania (where they're based) and the pressings are really, really good (even if I'm not always a superfan of the mastering jobs).
  3. I'd also say that Waxidermy can be a good source as far as forums go. Ashamed to admit that I no longer have this on LP... sold my VG+ Liberty stereo years ago and never replaced it.
  4. hah, if only "never playing" was a criterion for not keeping something...
  5. yeah, he's one of my absolute favorite saxophonists, so it's great to have him "in the house" so to speak!
  6. that clip is really strong. RIP. yeah, I think Dennis is how his name might be familiar - thanks.
  7. yeah, "amateur" was used upthread and I thought that was unfair.
  8. I had a CDr of this from some Coltrane list that was rough-sounding but musically very strong; don't know what happened to that CDr but I would like to hear the music again (and file the CD). even if it's lo-fi ("amateur" - whatever that means), more Coltrane is nearly always a special event.
  9. Frank Wright - Eddie's Back in Town - (Krona, US) with a dedication to the previous owner from the Reverend himself.
  10. still need to upgrade my copy of that Pilz.
  11. I don't really have anything to add here other than that I'm sorry this happened and that I hope you can push it to the fullest legal extent. That tool should be in the clink.
  12. Unless you want to count those Caroline budget-bin LPs like Pukwana's In the Townships and Flute Music, or the Coxhills. The latter are not really "jazz" in the sense that the JCOA records are, however.
  13. everything paid up will go out by this weekend (hopefully - first day back to work after a much needed long vacation). thanks to all.
  14. now, another volume of the same series: Tshokwe - Zaire (rec. Barbara Schmidt-Renger). Pretty incredible stuff.
  15. Looks pretty deep - concerts, panel discussions and more, with Lee Konitz, Ted Brown, Alan Broadbent, Ken Peplowski, Dave Pell et al. Attn: Chewy http://www.lajazzinstitute.org/ pdf brochure made it look pretty enticing.
  16. Humbi & Handa of Angola (rec. Gerhard Kubik) - Musee Royale de l'Afrique Centrale (BE) Comes with a sizable book of musicological analysis and is pressed very cleanly and quietly.
  17. Should read Kalaparusha Maurice McIntyre. It's great. The Brand/Cherry/Ward is a wonderful record, one of the best of its ilk. I have the Sullivan "Re-Entry" LP (good) but not Genesis, which I believe is on Strata-East (unless there are two by that band).
  18. As I go through things it seems like the only discs I want to keep are Nessas, FMPs, Emanems, and the walls of Braxton and Brotzmann. As well as all the straight-ahead stuff. And a bunch of racket.
  19. there's still a lot of stuff left! The weird rock discs will probably be up in a few weeks for those asking. Nothing earth shattering but some nice stuff.
  20. Help me get rid of stuff! Single CDs are $5 unless noted, doubles are $7. shipping included for the first five discs, after that at cost. International at cost and generally from $8-$20 depending on amount of discs, so be forewarned. PM with your wants - first come, first serve. No jewel cases included. Paypal only please and no long holds! This stuff has to get out of here... ... stay tuned for another blowout, including rock and avant-garde composers, before too long.
  21. Good session. I have it on a Marge LP titled Cattin' Curson.
  22. I understood that Flavio was calling the shots at CAM though that could have changed.
