  1. I suppose those Charles Austin/Joe Gallivan records would work, though Gallivan plays a variety of non-"kit" percussion and synths.
  2. Acting Trio - s/t - (BYG Actuel)
  3. Giuseppi Logan - Quartet - (ESP, stereo)
  4. Shit, sorry to hear this! He was/is great. RIP.
  5. MG is correct, the organissimo version is great.

  7. Alert world: I have a cold.

  8. The Roscoe residency includes a duo concert with Alvin Fielder. This will be their first time playing together since 1969.
  9. Yeah, I threw it on as a result of this thread and it still holds up - good record.
  10. It's good. Kenyatta is on tenor for the most part; the 1969 concert recordings (w/ Mouzon, Willis and Booker) are a little lo-fi but it's interesting to hear him on the instrument. He sounds quite different phrase-wise/tonally, somewhat Shepp-like at times. The duo w/ Muhal is short (at like 5') but gorgeous. If you see it for $10 or so (maybe less), grab it. It's rarely an item priced much more than that, truthfully.
  11. I saw this ensemble in January at the Stone. It was excellent.
  12. Anyone know the name of the person who books Joe's Pub in NYC? I like to address things to "actual humans" rather than "Yo Sucka" or whatever else I'd normally use. DM me please.

  13. Paul Gonsalves - Tell It the Way It Is! - (Impulse, mono)
  14. Jef Gilson - New Call from France - (Saba)
  15. Ah yes, that is an excellent record. I had forgotten it has two bassists: Eberhard Weber and Karl Theodor Geier (who's on some Gruntz records IIRC).
  16. Yeah saw that, looks interesting.
  17. Ah yes, Music from Two Basses. That was an Early ECM. For some reason I've never heard the Kowald/Damon Smith disc. I'll ping Damon about it. He gave me a lock of Peter K's bow hair for Christmas...
  18. Ted Curson - Tears for Dolphy - (Fontana, Holland mono)
  19. Leo Cuypers - s/t - (BASF/BIM)
  20. Yeah, but it doesn't take long for stuff to go oop these days. Those Ex Guitars records they released I slept on and now they're gone!
  21. Oh yeah, I still need to pick that up. Thanks for the reminder.
  22. Hey JC Al, didn't realize you were on this board. Interesting story. I have yet to see the doc, but his music is pretty outstanding.
  23. Aha, yes - the bass duo LP. Another elusive beast. That one's good. Also much love for the Peter Kowald bass duos - Barre Phillips, Maarten Altena, and Barry Guy.
