Yeah, it does. I don't know how I forgot about Mr. Few as a Lacy confrere. He's fantastic on some of those Hat Hut sides. Maybe I should pull out Five Facings again - it's been a while, but it never really grabbed me in the past (save the Gumpert stuff).

I think Michael was the best pianist Lacy ever had in terms of getting to the meat of Steve's compositions. I used to have that album and didn't keep it. You know Michael's music better than I do, Jeff, but I'm curious to hear your opinion. Always thought Mal was kind of the "perfect foil" but then again, he's also the pianist I've heard with Lacy the most. Others being Smith, Satoh, Cecil, Perez, and of course that "Five Facings" duets CD on FMP (which wasn't all that great IMO) with Crispell, Van Hove, Gumpert, Mengelberg, and Vladimir Miller.

Called my guy in the business in NY to get confirmation. We'll see. I have seen nothing other than Wikipedia reporting this... but a huge loss if so.

I'll give you a spare of Frank Lowe's Black Beings that I have kicking around... with significant extra music and good mastering!

I got it for $35 or so during this Leo Records sale. Pick it up that way if you can. Great set!

Those Tubby Hayes LPs were in gnarly shape. I am fine with Jasmine and Sawano reissues and CDs for those - no need to have "beater" originals.

Yeah, that's about what I paid for mine years ago. I think I like the Incus LP a bit better. And, from there, Iskra 1903 I feel is even more interesting.

Dang! Never even heard of that one. Oops, I mean: Leeway, please return my copy of The Haunt that I loaned you. (I keep trying that, but it hasn't worked yet.) You can still get it from Bobby at his site! I still need to order that CD with Cleve Pozar from him. The Haunt is really good... as are all of Naughton's LPs.

Maybe you're aware it was also released in the Americans Swinging in Paris series paired with Les Stances a Sophie. But I agree it would be nice to have a CD issue from Chuck with the original art, etc. Chuck's been over this before, but he licensed the tapes from EMI to do the vinyl "back in the day." He'd have to do that again for the CDs, which is probably expensive and not easy to do. They were originally released as Pathe LPs and the Nessa issues followed shortly after, though they had more pressing runs than the Pathe (and Odeon Japan) vinyl. I think he also said he still had the tapes that he used for the LPs, the CD issues of Les Stances a Sophie have all been needle drops as far as I'm aware. whilst we're discussing "People...", can anyone shed light on the different covers? Mine's as above but almost in negative with a white background and yellow text/picture. Just curious and with apologies if it's been covered (no pun intended) elsewhere (too lazy to search) Printing error, according to a post by CN a while back.

If I remember correctly, there is also a Japanese CD of it.
