  1. I think the Newport recordings are musically "better," but this is good and available (which other Mengelberg from the period is definitely not).
  2. I guess this is a little bluer tint, but whatever...
  3. Since the cover has "modern art," an image of Roman Signer's photo piece Wasser Stiefel. Album is Gastr del Sol's Upgrade & Afterlife.
  4. John Surman/John Warren - Tales of the Algonquin - (Deram, stereo)
  5. Luc Ferrari - Interrupteur/Tautologos 3 - (EMI Electrola Germany)
  6. There's a lot of love for the Dixon so I'm sure it will sell... meanwhile, a 1500-unit run of the Hemphill will surely move. I'm glad you've got this program going, indeed.
  7. Wow - would love to hear some of these.
  8. Thanks! I'll keep an eye on it... even though checking my eBay spending totals for the last 60 days brought me back to Earth. Whoops.
  9. Nice! Too bad this isn't in the "offering" forum...
  10. I guess they spent so much on graphic design that they couldn't afford a proofreader. Love that N'Orleans cover, Jeff! My favorite detail is "Battle Hymn-Republic." But they blew the opportunity for "Closer Walk w/Thee" and "My Hat, Cane." I'll try to fix those two missing images in a bit. Man, Jeff, that is an amazing cover! I would love to have that in my collection.
  11. Bad habit, sure, but a killer album and a hilariously great cover.
  12. Coltrane - Impassioned Tenor-Man (Alto) Pretty wonky-sounding bootleg; I assume the tape speed is off because the LP plays "normally."
  13. Just got back from NYC to find a Nessa parcel waiting. Pumped to crack into these later!
  14. Poignant release in light of Mr. Noordijk's passing.
  15. Got mine. I haven't A/B'ed it with my Mbari LP (which is in very nice condition and always sounded good), but the CD is very punchy sounding, moreso than I remember the session to be. I think it suits the music for sure - great as always. Glad this is now in a much more available format.
  16. Damn, what a shame!
  17. I don't know how many of you are familiar with the two (fantastic) LPs made by Fraser & DeBolt in the '70s for Columbia, but apparently Ms. DeBolt passed away the other day. Sad to hear this - a friend was trying to get some of their archive released (though he's not the person mentioned in the article). Daisy DeBolt
  18. Oh shit, sorry to hear this. I too missed out on a couple of (pricey) chances to see him. RIP to one of the greats.
  19. Yeah, that is the pressing that I have, too. Happy enough with it that I never went for broke on the Danish Debut. What a record.
  20. Oh wow. Sad news.
  21. I'll keep an eye out for a decent 7167 jacket... seems like I've run into nice covers with whipped vinyl a fair amount.
  22. I've had a few Liberty originals of this and none sounded that great pressing-wise, even though the music (and cover!) are strong.
  23. Talibam shows consist of a lot of weird antics. Chaos is just part of the gig. Connecting an eye with a fist usually isn't, however.
  24. My favorite vinyl side is Chronic Town w/ "Wolves, Lower," "Gardening At Night" and "Boxcars." If you want to hear the horror of what might have been, check out the Stephen Hague produced demo of Catapult. That brought back some hairy memories of synth bands of the early '80s. Nice Big Black reference in the blog title.
