  1. Yeah, I assume that the vinyl sounds better than the Jazzprint CD. Now: Jack Wilson - Easterly Winds - (BN Liberty stereo)
  2. Yeah, I bet it's cool. Agreed - BN seems more interested in releasing drivel like Jeff Bridges than anything from the vaults (or even really strong contemporary improvised music).
  3. Lars Werner/Bernt Rosengren - Bombastica! - (Jazzland mono)
  4. The Dream Syndicate - Out of the Grey - (Bigtime)
  5. Nice story! Dipping into the Braxton now.
  6. I really like that one and don't find it too "ECM-y." Doctor Too Much rules - I also dig Positions 3-6-9 with Jerome Cooper (it's his date) and Kalaparusha.
  7. Rick Reed - The Way Things Go - (Elevator Bath) Incredible recent electronic/drone record if you are into that sort of thing.
  8. I have the LP but am still into the idea of having it on CD for the extra track, mastering, and convenience. Wait, did I just say what I think I said? Plus, more words on the Nessa Juggernaut are due soon.
  9. Jeanne Lee is incredible on probably everything I've heard her on, but YMMV. Now spinning: Jack Wilson - Easterly Winds - (BN Liberty stereo)
  10. I have no problem with the original cover - I think it looks kind of intense!
  11. Yeah, I've seen him a few times and it's always been really good. He's a really nice guy, so I'm sure you two will have a blast. You should find out if those tapes of Cadentia Nova Danica with Musica Elettronica Viva are ever going to see release!
  12. Oof. That is probably the sickest "what vinyl are you spinning" post around.
  13. Andrew Cyrille - Celebration - (IPS)
  14. Yeah, ditto Clunky's opinion. Though I'm not 100% convinced of the pressing quality of the Gearbox releases. This one had all kinds of whitish crud in the vinyl, though it plays fine.
  15. My girlfriend went to a wedding in Vermont, leaving Austin late last week. Needless to say it'll be a while before she gets out of the state.
  16. Joe Harriott - Jazz for Moderns - (Gearbox)
  17. Bob Downes - Deep Down Heavy - (MFP)
  18. From the thread title, I thought this was going to be about Joachim Kuhn...
  19. Yeah, cool that they reissued that record. I have the original and it's been among my top spins for ages. Have to say I like the original cover better:
  20. I can see it now. G-iant Steps. Kenny G Plays the Music of John Coltrane. Wow, he't trying to sound like Coltrane. HA! Nice overdub.
  21. Burton Greene - Quartet - (ESP orig)
  22. Brown/Cage/Wolff - 4 Systems/Music for Amplified Toy Pianos/Music for Carillon/Edges - (EMI Electrola) As played by "Gentle Fire"
  23. Oh yeah. Just for the record, Ornette had some trumpet discussions with Bill Dixon in the 1960s. I'd hesitate to call them "lessons" because I don't think that either musician really thinks/thought in that way, but Ornette wanted to play the trumpet and Bill helped him with that.
