  2. Some great ears here and killer guesses. I will wait for a few more posts before confirming or denying anything, however.
  3. Yeah, perhaps and for that I would find a new way to host it. Should have the TT back in order by the end of the month (!)
  4. Shit, I'm sorry to hear that. I can try another method later tonight and see how it goes. On my end I've experienced no problems but... that's obviously different from your end.
  5. Please begin your discussion of BFT #77 (previously mistitled BFT #79) here. I'd planned to do an all-vinyl edition but, once I got back from traveling, discovered some issues with tonearm wiring. Which is too bad because I had some real doozies picked out. But then again, this allowed me the opportunity to pick some things that might be easier to source (should they be of interest) and also allow me to visit some items of recent interest in a different context than usual (i.e., more casual here). Also, I intentionally picked a few tracks that I thought it would be good to listen to and study again, because the benefit of others' ears is one that rarely gets used. Anyway, I hope you all are enjoying the BFT.
  6. Completism biting us in the asses again?
  7. Cool story! I saw Jackie play once and enjoyed it quite a bit. He always seemed like a cool dude.
  8. Whoever the pianist is, I'm intrigued and would like to check this out.
  9. A lot of my favorites have been mentioned already. For a long time, Jackie Mc was IT for me and the alto, though now I think I prefer a softer sound on the instrument. That may change, of course.
  10. Excellent date, indeed!
  11. Not issued. Strange that it's treated as though it were. Unless somebody comes up with a copy and it hits eBay / popsike, it's safe to assume it doesn't exist.
  12. I didn't think it ever came out, but I could be wrong.
  13. The Ringer is a favorite.
  14. That's one I boneheadedly skipped on when I saw a copy for $9.99 several years ago. I'm guessing it was one of those instances where my arms were already full of wax, else it would have made it home. Will have to remember to look for this one again.
  15. Oof. I'm sorry that there are problems with this and I'll see what I can do.
  16. It seems so... pointless.
  17. Yeah, that was my intent. Bill, you might have a few of these. I had to go CD-only because of some wiring problems with my tonearm that developed recently.
  18. I get the feeling that a lot of those P-Vine Japanese CDs are bootlegs.
  19. Parallel works fine. I am not a premium user myself.
  20. Can't say anything more than the beautiful sentiments echoed here. RIP.
  21. For those of you who are downloading, get it here. I'll throw up the discussion thread mid-week just to ensure that the two members whose BFTs are in the mail have received them.
  22. Apologies for being off schedule (two trips at the beginning of August). It's all done and will be hosted starting tomorrow. Physical copies are en route. Enjoy!
  23. Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but Jazz Track is here and rather egregious.
  24. Ptah is probably right but if one is immediately turned off / severely underwhelmed, it's hard to get the gumption to try and try again. But maybe I'll give it another shot. And I know Beefheart was far from a "naif," albeit definitely, genuinely odd.
  25. From the Zappa I've listened to - which isn't a lot, but some - I get the impression that he was trying too hard to be "weird," "difficult," or "quirky." It's the difference between your average CRI LP (not counting the Feldman, Partch, etc. titles) and, say, Xenakis. Xenakis didn't have to try! Of course, I can't fade FZ completely because he was good for foisting more Beefheart on the world, but... as a composer, he's totally uninteresting to me. Alan Silva is sometimes quite interesting (not always). I'm not comparing the two, really, but you get my drift. I was merely stating that I was curious to hear Zappa the guitarist (who's decent) in the historical context of the Actuel festival.
