  1. Nedly Elstak - Incident - (Coreco) Pretty stoned/unhinged set with Glenn Spearman, Louis Armfield and Harry Piller.
  2. Thanks for the update, SS - we'd been wanting to check you out but hadn't seen a gig listed in a while.
  3. don't you mean "aloc's finest contribution?"
  4. There's one on Blue Thumb, the name of which escapes me, I like a bit more. But then again it's stripped-down rock, rather than orchestral pop.
  5. Houston when Alvin was visiting with Kidd. Glad you liked it, John. Thanks.
  6. Dollar Brand/Johnny Dyani - Good News from Africa - (Cameo orig)
  7. Theo Loevendie Consort - Mandela! - (Catfish) Motherf*cker of a record w/ Dulfer, Mastenbroek, Van Manen, Elstak, Engels, van Duynhoven, Altena.
  8. Yes indeed. Sorry to hear he's having trouble - I remember when I interviewed him a few years ago he mentioned some health issues he was wrestling with. Here is the interview. Apparently some recent site formatting made all the apostrophes look ugly. Sorry.
  9. Shouldn't that Drew have a DG on both sides? Paging Michel!
  10. I can't advise you, chewy, because you didn't approve my facebook friend request.
  11. Too bad more of those MoMA concerts weren't recorded back in the day - NY Art Quartet, Jazz Composers' Guild Orchestra, Byard Lancaster/Milford Graves/Dollar Brand...
  12. One eye could be a European CBS with the "eye" around the spindle hole. But the catalog number would be different, I guess.
  13. And they say jazz boards are sexist...
  14. New York Art Quartet - Mohawk - (Fontana UK mono)
  15. Alice Coltrane - Ptah, the El Daoud - (Impulse orig)
  16. I got a nice sealed original of that recently. Cool record.
  17. Yeah, it's actually fairly "out" leaning.
  18. I remember liking Snooze when I had it.
  19. Yeah, I had those Blackhawk LPs when I was first getting into jazz and especially Miles and Trane. I inherited battered originals from my dad, of course. They didn't really hold up, for me, compared to the material with Trane or with Shorter and Coleman. But even then, I still really liked what Mobley was trying to do and sought out his recordings for BN. I wouldn't mind hearing the material again after all these years.
  20. A man is sitting in his easy chair reading the paper, when his eldest daughter, age 9, runs up to him and says "Daddy, Daddy! Why is my name Rose?" He replies, "Well, honey, when you were born, we couldn't decide on a name, but just then, a rose petal floated into the room and landed right on your forehead, and that's why we named you Rose." Just then, his middle daughter, age 7, runs up and says "Daddy, Daddy! Why is my name Snowflake?" He replies, "Well, honey, when you were born, we couldn't decide on a name, but just then, a snowflake floated into the room and landed right on your forehead, and that's why we named you Snowflake." Then, his youngest daughter runs up and says "NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNGH" And he says, "Shut up, Cinderblock!"
  21. Actually, by NOT mentioning me, I too am insulted.
  22. In the above case, yep. Radio-friendly unit shifters don't require a "mouthpiece" anyway.
  23. Ornette - Town Hall 1962 - (ESP stereo orig, red label)
  24. A clean BN for a buck - I'd buy it. I'd even buy the Jeremy Steig for a buck. Yes, the Kenny Cox is nice, and I like both of them the same amount.
  25. A selected group of recordings from Bill Dixon's tape archives would be great. Maybe 8-10 discs would suffice. Or a select of the Savoy "avant-garde" releases... Or the music of Ornette and Prime Time as well as Soapsuds, Soapsuds...
