I was at a Sonic Youth gig tonight and noticed one of their stacks painted to look like Jasper Johns' "target" works from the late 50s/early 60s. Of course, they also had cover art by Gerhard Richter and Raymond Pettibon (to name two VERY diverse sources), so the connection is there even without an obvious one-to-one relationship.
I tend to see music and hear painting, for what it's worth, and am always interested in the connections that can be drawn, however oblique.
