  1. Perhaps the tapes were not in the care of the same individuals? That would be my guess. It's been a while since I dug out the Mosaic or read the accompanying notes.
  2. He has an exhibition in East Hampton, NY that just opened. Hopefully can make it out there in the next month (I rotate to the region for work periodically). https://www.davidlewisgallery.com/exhibitions/claude-lawrence-free-jazz
  3. Well... my understanding is that The New York Bass Violin Choir and The Descendants of Mike and Phoebe are pretty much his records. He also composed at least half of The Brass Company on Strata-East. The music is collective in intent but I can't imagine any of those three LPs happening without him.
  4. Far out. F*ck Ike Turner.
  5. Yep. Wonderful session(s). He had a hell of a sound and his tunes were/are deep. These two are neat sideman appearances:
  6. Reports are that bassist-composer Bill Lee has passed at 94. His name on a record usually meant that it would be interesting at the very least. RIP.
  7. Sad news! RIP.
  8. Ditto on the first point; will have to check On The Go via the digital method.
  9. ordered that from DG -- looking forward to hearing it. agree about the Graves, too -- side B is bonkers!
  10. I may have mentioned this before, but it took years for It's Not Up To Us to reach me. Had the record forever, but preferred his playing on other dates, notably with Sunny Murray, Bill Dixon, Burton Greene, et al.. But at this point I think it's a gem. The unissued material is enticing. The Palms are also excellent... supposedly a session with Eddy Louiss was recorded for Gilson's label but remains unreleased. There's also that bevy of unreleased Dogtown dates that Lancaster reported to Mike Hames for the latter's discography book. Now there's a rare volume...
  11. Oh yeah, didn't know about his painting, just his saxophone playing. I'll add Alan Silva and Selwyn Lissack to the list.
  12. Yeah, although I chafe at the overabundance of random-ass reissues, this and Black Woman have been OOP for far too long. Glad to see they're getting reissued.
  13. Thanks, folks! I think Forced Exposure should be distributing it in the US, along with other RogueArt titles.
  14. Not sure if this is worth doing or not, but as the general organissimo website is down/nonexistent, might it make more sense to just set it up with an automatic redirect to the forums?
  15. I would imagine "Reptet Slept Here" would've helped you get top dollar for your house!
  16. Agree, Reptet are/were excellent. Not sure if they're still around.
  17. Paul Flaherty Robert Ryman (painter) started out as a saxophonist & studied with Lennie Tristano
  18. yeah, the America pressing is what I have as well. Fantastic album.
  19. John Lurie Damon Smith Vinny Golia
  20. It'll definitely be available for sale at the Vision Festival. I'll be there!
  21. Excited to receive this -- much more music than what seemed to be circulating before.
  22. I don't know Bernard. Itinerant session cat, perhaps? Hard to say.
  23. Folke Rabe in the trombone section -- nice!
