True, I think the additional cost of SCAD hurt the sales of Stones Remasters. FWIW, I love the HDCD Dead remasters and I wouldn't say my system is that high end. Not sure what the additional cost of confusion would be with the HDCD format. Nah, but those folks over the Hoffman forms scare me. I wouldn't want to be walking down the street wearing a fleece with EMI or Amazon on it around these folks when orders are not fulfilled next week.

Let us know what you think of that, we don't get it in the states till mid October.

This review isn't so hot: http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/tur...d-reissues.html It will be interesting to see what people think, part of me thinks for the money they could have done these SCAD or HDCD.

The reviews coming out are making me sort of wish I grabbed the mono box instead of only pre-ordering the single disc's of Revolver, White Album and Abbey Road. Good review here: http://www.tonepublications.com/music/beat...tereo-and-mono/ with some good comments too : "Its vitally important these sound terrible. Because if not thousands of posters on the Steve Hoffman Forum wont have anything to moan about. If they are awful it will give their lives meaning for another 20 years till the next remastering."

Recent Down Loads And Additions From E - Music
WorldB3 replied to Soulstation1's topic in Miscellaneous Music
recent dl's: The Monterey Quartet Live at the 2007 Monterey Jazz Festival Visions of Dawn by Joyce Glen Gould - Consort of Musicke by William Byrd & Orlando Gibbons; Sweelinck. For those of you still on emusic, check your account today to see if you got free downloads for still sticking around. -
Its not 1995 thats for sure. I was just reminded today what a powerhouse that team was, look at that lineup 1-7 that year: Kenny Lofton, .314 Omar Vizquel, .266 but Hall of Fame-caliber defense at shortstop Carlos Baerga, .314 with a couple of 200-hit seasons in his recent past Albert Belle, .317 with 50 homers Eddie Murray, .323 Jim Thome (playing third), .314 with 25 homers Manny Ramirez, .308 with 31 homers and 107 RBIs

^ Despite his numbers coming into the season I said that Swisher would become a fan favorite due to his personality and potential for him to create chemistry. I can't say much about Burnett but Swisher was one of my favorites when he was on the A's.

Jazz: Seriously Deep - Eberhard Weber, Silent Feet On the rock side: Essence - Lucinda Williams.

I know I would love to see Jermaine Dye in a Giants uni down the stretch. Always liked Dye, I wish he never left the A's.

A month ago I had some flu like symptoms, everything but the fever. I was at work and went to the doctor just in case, this was on a Monday. She told me everything right now is H1N1 and gave me a doctors order stay home for the week. The feeling lousy and tired lasted about two weeks even though I was able to go back to work after I was no longer contagious. I have had much worse flu's with high temperatures but this one lasted a while.

Go Giants, you guys are running away with it, help a brother out. Sigh, the Rockies have the easier schedule here on out. If the Giants split the Phil-Mil road trip I will be happy.

If it was my money I would say no just going on the Amazon pre-order prices. Even on sale the Stereo Box Set is going for $486 where individual discs are going for 12.99. For a bit over 200 dollars you get all 16 discs that make up the box set. Even at single discs going for full retail at 18.99 it comes out to $304 pre tax if you bough all 16. I wonder how many Mono boxes will be going up on Ebay for outrageous prices like the Dead Fillmore Boxes. I think a lot of people may have ordered two with one to keep and the other to sell.

Assuming you're buying Beatles for Sale in stereo (not part of the box): That is by far their WORST stereo album. Completely lopsided mix with overwhelming vocals in the center, all of the instruments in one speaker, and like handclaps and an occasional out of tune guitar fill in the other. I have easy listening covers of Beatles tunes that rock way harder than that album. Pick up the 80s mono version on CD instead. IMHO. I always rather liked the cover of Chuck Berry's "Rock 'n' Roll Music" on that album. I think it would have made a better EP as there is a lot of filler on it but I love the direction they took on it towards a more inner personal Bob Dylan type of song writing. I love No Reply, Im A Loser, Baby's In Black, Every Little Thing and 8 Days A Week.

^ I will revisit that one again, for some reason aside from a few tunes I have yet to connect with most of the Billy Higgens (Water Is Wide, Hyperion with Higgins) records the same way I do with Canto and Jumping the Creek.

i don't see them taking two of three if they trot out Wynn, Iskikawa and Fred Lewis as the 3-4-5 hitters again this weekend. Tim will have to go 8 with 1 earned run to just get the no decision tonight.

Yes. Really looking forward to that one. Bit the bullet today and ordered something I've been salivating over for a few weeks: "Complete Bud Powell on Verve" It's a high quality set with a great booklet and insight to Bud's playing and mental health at that time. While its not one I pull out that often due to the all of the false starts and aborted takes there is a lot of great music on it (disc 1 is particularly impressive) but I wouldn't recommend it to someone new to Bud as there is lot of tunes where Bud is not at his best as pointed out in the booklet and how it affected his playing. I think if Bud had a say in it this would be a 3 disc set but its still a fascinating set for us Jazz geeks.

That's about $55 adjusted for inflation. Of course you aren't getting a cup holder, a big vidya screen w/ replays and no rock music between innings. I'm sure any Indian fan who could afford ride in a time machine would happily pay it! Replay video screens and cup holders are great but I would happily pay 55 dollars and up to go in a time machine back when you weren't bombarded by rock music and a screaming idiotic PA announcers during and between innings and all the other assaults on my senses when I now go to a baseball game. It might by nice to actually talk about baseball at a game and be able to hear the person next to me. Everything is like a Disney on ice show or something now. Basketball is the worst with them blasting hip hop while the point guard is walking the ball up the court. I guess they think people need to be entertained by something else during the game now so they won't get bored.

Strongly disagree here. Just listened to it the other day and it fits quite well within the whole Hassell ouvre. You also forgot to mention 'Dressing for Pleasure' which I consider to be even funkier than 'Citi: Works of Fiction'. bigtiny I have a friend who likes to burn me obscure OOP cd-r's and I was doing some house cleaning and found Dressing for Pleasure in a stack of stuff I was about to toss out. I put it on and was blown away. What a great yet strange funky back beat pre-trip hop record. It will probably never see a re-release but well worth tracking down.

Happy b-day Wayne! Still going strong. I thought the recent releases Beyond The Sound Barrier and Footprints Live were fantastic.

Is Big Al still with us? Worried about a heart attack after hearing that Texas was up by five going into the 9th and the Yanks scored 4.

Quintet session w/Dorham on the frontline & the Elmo Hope Trio (Hope/Percy Heath/Art Blakey) for four tracks, and then a leftover Thelonious Monk/Sonny Rollins track with Paul Chambers & Art Taylor added to the original 10"-LP to make it a 12"-LP. It's good and although I wouldn't call it a classic, it's still worth having. Imagine if Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers had employed Sonny & Elmo and you oughta have a pretty good idea. Or if the Elmo Hope Trio replaced Max Roach and backed Sonny & Kenny in the new Brown-Roach Inc. after Clifford passed away. That sounds great to me, looking forward to picking that one up. Poor Elmo plays on the whole record and Monk only Rollins, Dorham and Monk get their names on the front cover.

"That's a fact, too. I mean, walking the oposing pitcher with the bases loaded??? WTF was that all about?" I am so hating on Rowand right now. Comes up in the 9th with runner on second no outs and whiffs on 3 pitches. wtf.. your job in life at the moment is to get the runner over. at least he didn't pop up the first pitch like everybody else did all night. Thing is back in May if you would told me this series would have meant something I would have taken it. In a way its good to be pissed about the Giants instead of indifferent because they are so bad.
-
Assuming he did this after passing third base, he's only doing what Big Papi started. Ortiz got tired of the pounding headaches he'd get if he went into the dogpile with his helmet on, and 24 guys pounded on his head. Apparently helmets really amplify the force being exerted on the hero's head. it was a joke, I don't expect anybody to to act like they have hit a 14th inning walk off grand slam before. Good Speak, Jenkins is right on money again as always. Lots of goats last night, Zito wasn't one of them.
-
Your evil. I guess one way to look at is that at least the Giants had a brutal loss that means something, its been since 2003, the other good thins is that Good Speak can't blame Zito for last night. Even though the Giants lost it was one of those games that make you realize why Baseball is the best sport ever invented. What an epic last night. What was the deal with Spilborgh tossing the helmet? Come on dude, act like you've hit a game winning grand slam in the bottom the 14th with your team down by two before.

Hit the local vinyl shop again on Sunday, all of them sound great on first listens: Steve Lacy - Reflections Nina Simone - Little Girl Blue Eberhard Weber - Silent Feet
