  1. I've bought from the B's just once to get hold of the Tubby Hayes Jap Fontanas. I was in the process of ordering a whole stash of Jazz In Paris CDs but when I saw that the postage was almost as much as the price of the CDs I canned the whole lot..
  2. Marte Roling used a photo of Marion Brown that I took. The photo was published in Jazz Hot back in 1966! Wish she had acknowledged her source
  3. There was an interesting thread on 'Grant vs Wes' fairly recently. Check this out for some useful recommendations !
  4. Interesting discussion about this LP set. I'm on a Mingus kick at the moment so will pull the LPs down a bit later and have a listen. Both of the Mingus Mosaics are great !
  5. Don't worry about the price, spinlps. I think it's a pretty good deal. With that EP being a 33rpm item as well, can't go wrong. I'm dead jealous..
  6. Probably has a Linn LP12 w/o Lingo motor. The Valhalla model only spins 'em at 33. I have same tt/motor, but use a pulley attachment and seperate belt to spin at 45rpm. Cool set btw, enjoy. No, I have the Lingo Are you saying I can set this thing to spin 45rpm? Will still need to get the spindle adapter though.... After a few big vinyl buys of late I'm broke so this one had to be passed up..
  7. All of the George Braith Blue Notes are well worth hearing, count me in as a big fan. Particularly like 'Two Souls In One' and 'Extensions', which are both full of great grooves and some of Grant Green's finest work outside of his own sessions. 'Braith-A-Way' is an all time classic ! Both beautifully recorded too by RVG.
  8. Red Garland 'Satin Doll' (Japanese Victor). With Doug Watkins/Jimmy Rowser and Specs Wright.
  9. John Coltrane 'Cosmic Music'
  10. Nice set, spinlps ! I saw this set and was tempted but unfortunately the 45rpm bonus EP would be totally wasted on me as I can't spin 45s. Let us know your opinions when you receive it !
  11. Hilton Ruiz Ron(Ran) Burton Ronnie Mathews Larry Willis.
  12. Aha - The Marte Roling cover.. Thanks John, I'm looking forward to this one ! Just love those 60s Fontanas. I've got the Ted Curson and Dollar Brand somewhere in the racks.
  13. Thanks for the link ! I'd been hoping that the PMG would be back in the UK this year but looks as if the nearest they will get will be France..
  14. Hey, that's the one !!! I'm confusing my Escorts with my Cortinas. Must have been a Mk 3... No furry dice and dashboard though
  15. Krupa/James CD1. So far so good !
  16. Orange Ford Escort. The 'Mk 4' UK variant. Pretty sure it was the Ghia as it had the chrome trim on the sides. Polished to perfection ! Thinking about it again though, that detective was in the front and it was the lady plus the hat box in the back. Long time ago now, must have been about 1981. A tight squeeze, for sure, in the back of that car nevertheless..
  17. Just about anything from Big John Patton. Particularly the stuff on his Mosaic select. And anything on the Sun Ra 'Singles' 2CD set
  18. Didn't he do some work with Evan Parker and the SME in the late 1960s?
  19. "How did Rudy Van Gelder get his ear in the dead wax ?"
  20. Looks like SHE should have been in the driver's seat of the damn Mercedes instead of that Henri Paul on the night of her fatal crash! The thing that attracted my attention that day was the condition of the car - absolutely immaculate and polished, you just don't see that in London. I was in the passenger seat and she (in the driver's seat) must have been less than 3 feet or so away fro me, based on the spacing of the cars. Absolutely amazing makeup job she had - quite beautiful too. I was gobsmacked ! In the back of the car was a detective and lady-in-waiting, with what looked to be a hat case. There was a bit of a delay at the lights but when she was recognised it was straight through those lights. The car was a Ford Escort Ghia, I believe.
  21. I seem to recall that she was heavily into George Michael and 'Wham' ( ) as well. She had exquisite musical taste.... Funilly enough she pulled up driving a car next to me in London one day, not far from Buck House. Incredibly made up, just on her way to see Charlie Boy not long before the wedding. When I recognised here she went red as a beetroot and sped off through red lights at high speed...
  22. Not sure about the shops but Goldmine says $100 in near mint for the 'Chronicle' 12LP set.
  23. Charles Mingus 'My Favourite Quintet' on America Records. Some misleading BS on the front cover about this being the Town Hall concert with Dolphy and co. It's not, the group has Hilyer, McPherson & co. Absolutely insane version of 'Cocktails For Two' on this.
