  1. My CD was fine but the transparent case had a break on the front. A miracle that they have arrived, I guess. Anything from the US requires extra extra padding these days to get past the pulverisers at customs.
  2. Still got the Pablo 2LP of that one.
  3. OJC issue. I’ll bet that the sound is at least as good as an original !
  4. I’ve accumulated a number of them. They were £8-10 over here back in the early 80s. A lot of change back then. Wish I could get them at that price now ! I need a time machine to get back to that LA Rhino store.
  5. Too bad that Linn don’t design their digital stuff for longevity with their service support but that is great that you got the converter so that that classic player gets a new lease of life and many more years of play. Totally different to Linn turntables, which seem to be supportable forever. I’m hearing great things from my dealer about the Karousel bearing upgrade, so that is likely a no brainer after the current wallet hit..
  6. It’s one of those annoyingly elusive King ‘GX’ series issues from the late 70s/early 80s. Came and went as imports in just a few shops and expensive at the time. Still expensive now ! Future Tone Poet, perhaps?
  7. Harry Beckett is very much missed. I caught that band with Chris Biscoe playing the Mingus material some years back. It was a packed out festival crowd. Enjoy ! Sondek CD player back in action? That deserves getting the champers out. Very nice. Hope they do a UK tour when ‘normality’ returns. A mainly analogue afternoon for me, as I am demoing a new supply on my phono stage. The difference is not small... Bankruptcy beckons...
  8. I must have struck lucky with recent deliveries. Mosaic set from Barcelona arrived in 2 days, replacement CD from Mosaic HQ arrived without a hitch and I have a CD coming in today from the Netherlands, ahead of schedule (cost £2.99 inc. postage ).
  9. Nope - Just the response from Scott after I had explained the problem to confirm that a replacement would be sent. It sounds like a number of copies had been reported with this issue. Disk 2’s music is of course - excellent.
  10. My replacement disk 2 has just arrived from Mosaic. Good service !
  11. Sam very kindly signed my DMM copy of this one on the front. Unfortunately, it smudged - but it is still a treasured item. Need to frame it up ! I agree - it is very underrated. The needs to be a Tone Poet LP reissue to provide a definitive version.
  12. From the Mosaic vinyl Sam Rivers set.
  13. I can see Gerald Wilson, Prima-Manone, Ollie Nelson and Earl Hines showing as not yet sold.
  14. Can we leave the politics out please - it is getting tiresome. Thank you.
  15. Yeah - It’s all on the Rivers Mosaic and Hill Mosaic Select. Good stuff.
  16. Yes - I originally saw it on North American TV though. The place it was filmed remains pretty well as per the series, located on the Welsh coast. Really must make a visit, one of these days.
  17. I mainly got this one back in the day for the “Love For Sale’ album. Great session ! I think I have all of this ‘brown bag’ twofer series apart from the Sam Rivers.
  18. Cranked up - great !
  19. No, it was ‘Mutima’. Here’s an article about the show and some photos. Wish I was back there.. https://www.jazzwise.com/news/article/strata-east-live-sounds-sublime-at-barbican I’d forgotten about that Scott-Heron tribute and that Jean Carn sang ‘Sprit of the New Land’. Some more photos here - https://londonjazznews.com/2015/03/23/photos-strata-east-night-at-the-barbican/
