  1. Benny Golson in ‘The Terminal’. Miles in ‘Scrooged’.
  2. Tubby Hayes and his Quintet in ‘Dr Terror’s House of Horrors’ (Amicus).
  3. Good that George, Lonnie and Ronnie Cuber are still going strong !
  4. My Joe Zawinul ‘Rise and Fall of the Third Stream’ on Vortex had braille on the back too.
  5. That documentary with the Jarrett interview was originally put out on UK Channel 4 and presented by Ian Carr I recall.
  6. OJC version - Vol 1 with the nice Ray Avery shot on the cover.
  7. Back up with Dr Lonnie on this excellent 80th series 180g reissue. Trounces the ‘Rare Grooves’ CD. ’Drives’ reissue next please BN !
  8. It is definitely worth a new LP reissue - although pretty happy with my Japanese issue. Didn’t realise that Jazz Workshop had reissued it. Grey market?
  9. Included also on the Mosaic Select Carmell Jones CDs. There was a UK original LP issue on Vogue as well, plus later Affinity reissue I think.
  10. Yeah - one more thing to scramble like crazy for..
  11. Caught it on the Radio 4 6.30 so-called ‘comedy’ slot last night. Not up to the original but better than the usual guff they broadcast in that slot. Apparently Record Store Day this year will feature a 3LP set reissue of the original LPs so looks like I will need to add these to my list.
  12. Same here - courtesy of Mr Tanno.
  13. The ‘Fried Bananas’ on side 1 of this LP is very good, Dexter is in good form. My favourite version is probably on the ‘Sophisticated Giant’ LP though. Bought that one as soon as it came out, around 1980.
  14. Very nice - Ben Webster with strings. Stan Tracey arrangements.
  15. Lucky man ! When I saw Davis at his London comeback performance in 1982 they played ‘Ife’. Quite a surprise for me at the time, as I was very familiar with the 70s vinyl and wasn’t expecting him to play the earlier material. It was a very different version though. I think Paul Buckmaster mentioned that the version of ‘Ife’ recorded as part of the ‘Corner’ sessions stayed much more to the intent of his score compared with the other material of his that was recorded.
