  1. Better than the real thing !
  2. German Columbia, stereo - schlager free zone.
  3. Just received notification from Trunk Records that their Clarke/Boland LP compilation of the 3 KPMs is now out (single LP - the listing confirms that about half of it is Gary McFarland titles). Not sure if the release is mono or stereo. LP release only, limited to 500 copies (and Mr Trunk has confirmed that he is unlikely to do any further pressings). Order is in !
  4. Maybe chuck in ‘Afrique’ for good measure? (not Verve but all part of the story).
  5. As soon as jazzmessengers have it in stock, I’ll be on to this set.
  6. Happy Birthday !
  7. Great stuff. Jazzmessengers.com, here this set comes..(hopefully).
  8. The thanks are to you David, a splendid hour. I also took the opportunity to listen to your Xanadu and Tadd Dameron shows, thoroughly enjoyable !
  9. Just streaming this show - slowly working my way through the Savory set so it is something of a ‘primer’.
  10. I always assumed that a major part of Bear Family’s fan base were the C&W/Wild West recreation fan base in Germany, where I have heard that it is a big thing. I don’t think Mosaic has been helped over here by their product being effectively invisible in the shops, almost an underground, word of mouth movement amongst those in the know (exception - Mosaic Select in some of the major outlets). In fact I don’t recall ever seeing one if their sets until the mid 1990s and that was in an antique store. They have got more and more expensive to import - a combination of high postal charges, high import taxes, handling fees and unfavourable exchange rates.
  11. I flicked through a copy of that one in a shop recently and it looked fantastic ! So many great books... not enough space..
  12. Always enjoyed that one. Time to pull out the Ellington Reprise Mosaic.
  13. Each his own, I guess. My stereo orig. of this one sounds OK. Admittedly, it did benefit from a spin on the RCM. Gave it another spin - it is true that Wilkerson sounds a bit ‘comb and paper’. Nowhere near as well recorded as his Blue Notes.
  14. Yeah - That McCoy CD is very under-rated.
  15. Great sounding French reissue.
  16. every copy I’ve ever seen (not many) has had a beat-up sleeve. Flimsy design.
  17. The ‘palm tree’ logo came in during the mid 1970s. Early seventies was pink label.
