Definitely only play acetates a few times only - I would copy it to CD ASAP, then file it in the racks.
They were designed for artist/producer etc. audition purposes only, prior to test pressings.
Not wishing to be dragged into the jazz nerdyisms of this thread but doesn’t the same announcer at RAI crop up in that 1971 Miles Davis TV performance with Keith Jarrett and co. ?
I agree. It’s a superb performance and as good as anything Dickerson ever released. The band is spectacular too, Tucker and Cyrille being particular revelations.
Only saw Julian Priester on the one occasion, a Western Canada club date with a local trio. Vocalist Judi Singh joined for a few numbers. Great to hear that he is in good shape.
Strange that there is no news on this one on the Rearward/Schema site.
Still - I’m patient to hear a decent (non-pirate) LP version of this session. An LP/CD combo would be nice.
No qualms whatsoever with the sound on the Trunk/KPM compilation. It includes much of the cream of those 3 KPM LPs. Interestingly, the LP has KPM labels on it, within a (sort of hand made) Trunk sleeve.
Any more news about this (reputed) offering ?
Clarke/Boland Big Band - KPM Conventions compilation by Trunk Records. Corker ! Sonics are excellent. I think it is stereo - not that it matters.
Recommended without hesitation to mjazzg !
I’m hesitant, as yet to hear the LP although have a hunch Trunk will have done a great job. For an intro, LPs such as ‘All Blues’, ‘Sax No End’ and ‘Fellini 712’ would be where I would start.
