  1. Mike Westbrook 'Marching Song Vol 1' (Deram)
  2. I bought my O'Day set from Scott in person. Great set - will have to give it another spin. Yesterday spinning Anthony Braxton 'Complete Arista' CD2. From Scott Joplin to Eric Dolphy and points well beyond..

  4. Thinking about it, my 'Unit Structures' and 'Let Em Roll' are like that too. Spinning Cedar Walton 'Spectrum' (Prestige blue label, stereo) and 'Paul Desmond Live' (A&M Horizon, 2LP)
  5. Gene Pitney Gene Vincent Jean Genie
  6. Good stuff ! Even after a couple of CDs of Anthony Braxton..
  7. Was going to comment on how impressive the inside cover was for this title, not to mention the great front and back photos. Wonder if the NY label copies have Liberty sleeves?
  8. My zerostat is 40 years old and still going strong..
  9. Yep, I think the story on that one was that master tapes are missing in action..
  10. The secret I find is just to mix up a small bottle and to keep the concentrate at the back of the fridge.
  11. Freddie Hubbard 'Blue Spirits' (BN NYC stereo)
  12. Horace Silver 'The Jody Grind' (BN Liberty blue/white mono)
  13. Welcome to the board ! Art du Son is great. Just about to clean a couple of LPs with that stuff.
  14. Larry Young 'Contrasts' (BN Liberty blue/white)
  15. and listed in the end credits as 'Theo (Engineer)' I think..
  16. Grant Green 'Solid' (King BN)
  17. I was actually there (Shaftesbury) today ! Not on Gold Hill but I sometimes walk up and down it. There is actually an Oxfam Shop with LPs at the top (not much cop, mainly Classical and Max Bygraves ). Picturesque as it is, those houses would be a maintenance nightmare..
  18. Lucky Thompson 'Dancing Sunbeam' (ABC Impulse 2LP). The bass is so prominent that it sent my speaker drive units into oscillation !
  19. Remember seeing him in NYC as part of the Lincoln Center Orchestra. Think he was also been in that Buck Clayton Big Band I caught at Town Hall back in the 90s too. He was also featured over here on BBC Radio quite recently, soloing with a Scottish Big Band and also talking about his very varied life in music. The word 'solid' comes to mind when I think of Joe Temperley. Humph featured him a fair bit on his radio show over the years, most fittingly. RIP.
  20. An order of 'soda' up North would probably have got you a bag full of sickly sherbet ! Or an ice cream soda..
  21. Picked up an original of that Dorham on Time for not much more than $10 in Disk Union, believe it it not. Never been a massive fan of that particular Turrentine, will give it a respin. Spinning Les McCann 'Pretty Lady' (King Pacific Jazz). With the deck rebuild all these Japanese pressings are sounding fantastic, in the case of the Pacific Jazz LPs almost certainly way better than the originals.
  22. Still trying to make head or tail of this one... German oddity - Teutonic Fawlty Towers/League of Gentlemen in a surrealist Groundhog Day vein..
  23. Some similarities with the Danish Debut labelling..
  24. I like it. Think my pressing's a NY mono one but will have to check. I like Joe H's work on this LP.
