  1. I guess you are just paying for the room space and that the walls, land rent (% thereof) and contribution to maintenance/upkeep plus backhanders etc are all in the $1k per month. Would be cool living there though !
  2. Service charges pretty astronomical for a 1-bedder. Or maybe that is typical of NYC?
  3. Fascinating to compare that prototype run of 'Stolen Moments' on Trane Whistle with the one on Blues & The Abstract Truth.
  4. Sad news - 60s trailblazer on jazz flute, for sure. RIP.
  5. Tony - Welcome to the board, I share your enthusiasm for all things Mosaic. As you mention, the shipping of these sets to the UK isn't the easiest, although I find Mosaic's shipping straight-forward and reliable. Prepare for import tax and the dreaded Royal Mail 'admin' charge on delivery though. For in-print sets, consider ordering from jazzmessengers in Spain. I think their shipping within the EU is free as well (at least whilst we are still a member of that Institution..). The Mulligan Emarcy on vinyl is on my list. I have the Japanese LPs but these were from a digital source I think. I suspect Mosaics mastering on this set will be superior to the Japanese sources. In fact they did such a fantastic job in the Brown/Roach and RRK sets that It should be a no-brainer.
  6. Karin Krog 'Raindrops, Raindrops' (Crippled Dick Hot Wax ) Mulgrew Miller 'The Countdown' (Landmark)
  7. Michael Garrick 'Silhouette' (Gearbox) - recorded by Mr Garrick whilst still a UCL student using personal rig, late 50s, at an old stomping ground, ULU Malet Street. Sleeve notes most interesting. During my time the music rehearsal room was, I think, this one on the 3rd floor. The Garrick bio mentions 2nd floor though.
  8. Hank Mobley 'A Caddy For Daddy' (BN NY USA mono). More from BillF ! Pepper Adams 'Pure Pepper' (Arista Savoy)
  9. Yep - superb all round, arrangements and solos.
  10. Prof Pat Pending Penelope Pitstop Anthill Mob
  11. Buddy Rich Marty Feldman Prof Irwin Corey
  12. 'Miles Davis Blows' (Esquire 10"). Another 'good-un' from BillF.
  13. Might be able to make a foray to Poole. Looks good !
  14. Boris Rose presumably?..
  15. Belated Happy Birthday ! The apple pie sounds good.
  16. Loadsamoney Tim Nice-But-Dim Wayne Slobb
  17. Yep, I wasn't previously aware of it either - looking at the sleeve something didn't seem quite right until I twigged. Period charm !
  18. 'Theolonious (?) Monk' (Swing 10") - Thanks, BillF ! Miles Davis 'Greatest Hits' (UK CBS)
  19. Nipper Fido Spike
  20. Paul Desmond 'From The Hot Afternoon' (Japanese A&M) Gil Evans/Tadd Dameron 'The Arrangers' Touch' (Prestige 2LP)

    Jackie McLean

    I'll raise a glass for him !
  24. Good as the Vocalion CD is, the Philips vinyl is even nicer. I'll dig it out. Must get hold of Harry's 'Joy Unlimited' on Ogun. Heard a track or two of that one at the time it came out and never seen it since !
