  1. Grant Green 'The Latin Bit' (BN NY USA, ear). Lucky find at £2 back in the day, sounds pretty spectacular.
  2. Foot In Mouth Man Call-Me-Dave Super Dave
  3. I seem to recall them there - but that was now many years ago. Oh for the days when you could pop into the likes of RS and Farnell over here and buy any of the 7400 series of TTL series semiconductors in the Texas Instruments Handbook..
  4. Bought 'Bitches Brew' that year as well and really liked it from the off. It had a 'specially priced 2LP set' sticker on the front at £2.99 ! That one was closely followed by 'Big Fun' and 'Agharta' from the same (only recently closed) shop. Those vinyls are still in my racks and regularly get a play. Was 1976 the year that that God-awful 'Jazz Ship' series was on BBC? This thread is turning into a UK Old Codgers 'When I were a lad...' thread.
  5. 'Frampton Comes Alive' - That one was ubiquitous, got sick of it pounding through my walls. Standpipes - yes, it did almost come to that with the drought in the SW. Preceded with a ban on car washes and garden watering I recall.
  6. Wayne Shorter 'Adam's Apple' (BN Liberty)
  7. Laurie Johnson 'Synthesis' (Australian World Record Club)
  8. Thanks Jazztrain - that first one is identical to mine. The black label design and vinyl weight is suspiciously similar to a 1960s Danish Debut Massey Hall LP I have so maybe there is a connection there. I'd put my money on Denmark ! Jazz Crusaders 'LIghthouse '69' (King, Japan)
  9. 'Bebop Highlights' (Temple M-555). Parker/Gillespie/Powell air-check jam from circa 1951. Anyone know anything about this 'Temple' label and where it came from?
  10. Freddie Hubbard 'High Blues Pressure' (Atlantic)
  11. Dizzy Gillespie 'Perceptions' (Verve DG mono)
  12. I just remember it being the most sweltering Summer ever. Spent most of it hauling bags of cement ! Musical highlights - all those UK Impulse reissues including 'Africa Brass' - real bolt from the blue, Clifford Brown 'Complete Paris Collection' on Vogue and Miles Davis 'Water Babies' and (I think) 'Agharta'. Bought them all at the time.
  13. Ted Brown Sextet 'Free Wheeling' (King, Japan)
  14. I hear you. If it wasn't for a transatlantic flight and all the hassle that entails (not to mention cost) I would be in there.
  15. Bryan Robson Brian Robson Bobby Robson
  16. Milt Jackson Sextet 'Invitation' (Riverside mono, Bill Grauer)
  17. The Arista pressing of this title is really nice !
  18. Sweet Fanny Adam Fanny Hill Fanny Cradock
  19. This looks good.. http://lajazzinstitute.org/images/LAJazz_may2016_booklet.pdf
  20. Miles Davis/Marcus Miller 'Siesta' (UK Warners)
  21. Marvin Stamm 'Machinations' (Verve)
  22. Yes, the other one on Transatlantic was 'For The Record', with the red cover. Indeed it is Paul Rutherford featured on the first track of side 2, leading into the 'Interlude' of 'Creole Love Call.' The final track 'Finale' is a very catchy riff - something that Mike W. has a particular knack for. Next up on UK CBS - got slated when it came out but I like it. Nice punchy sound on vinyl too..
  23. This one doesn't have a mark on it, zero distortion and sounds great. LP weight surprisingly heavy for the vintage as well - these Transatlantics are OK. Must get hold of that other one he did around that time for this label for the Brass Band. Side 2 particularly good - quite groovy. With the LP deck now back up to scratch the CDs will be taking a secondary place..
  24. Followed by today's nice s/h finds: Miles 'In A Silent Way' (Mobile Fidelity, numbered edition) Mike Westbrook 'Love/Dream and Variations' (Transatlantic). Been after this one for a while..
  25. Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Quartet (Artists House)
