  1. Absolutely nothing - looks like my LP12 turntable belt is worn (records are taking a minute or so to get to speed and then it is all over the place ) so it's off to the dealer this morning to put me out of my misery..
  2. Joe Root Arnie Sidebottom 'Sir' Geoffrey Boycott
  3. If it's in good nick it's worth getting. My copy's not bad but it did see service in a UK public library before I got it (somewhere in the SE)
  4. Damn - get me out there ! Need to charter an airliner and maybe pick up Clifford en-route to make sure that there's no baggage limit issues.
  5. It is only now that I realized this is a different set from the other Argo double LP of Poetry and Jazz in Concert. So that means I need it too... Yep, the other 'Poetry and Jazz' is studio recordings originally issued on two separate LPs. This one is a live performance at the RFH issued as a box set. There's a copy up on Amazon if interested !
  6. Michael Garrick 'Poetry and Jazz In Concert 250' (Argo, 2LP)
  7. There's a brief mention in Garrick's biography of a 1969 performance at the Farnham Festival, which seems to be a trial run of 'Mr Smith's Apocalypse' so maybe this is it. Garrick had very strong working links with Hampshire Schools at around this time, which might be the reason this concert was done and the LP pressed. What a find ! Looks like the original owner of this LP must have lived in Charlton, South London.
  8. Saw that Kinsey 'Red Bird' EP in a local shop some years ago for not much and passed on it. Not a good move - it was gone by the next time I visited.
  9. RIP - Certainly remember 'The Rockford Files' back in the day. It was ubiquitous on TV but in a good way.
  10. Of course - the same tune is on Cecil Payne's 'Zodiac' on Strata-East titled 'Slide Hampton'. It can be found on disk 2 of the Clifford Jordan Mosaic set.
  11. The Fantasy period was an absolute cornucopia of material from the back catalogue. The high point for me was the issue of all of those Eric Klosses and Jaki Byards. It will never be repeated..
  12. Cheers !
  13. Daisy Duke Duke The Count
  14. Thanks kinuta. I'll prepare to bankrupt myself then. My Grimsby Fisherman's Welfare Card has just expired however..
  15. Yeah, nice. Not one you see around too much on LP. A fine note for that band to bow out on.
  16. No kidding - almost a pension !
  17. I stand corrected. Obviously I spend too much time locally. So I will be OK to use a card at Disk Union stores then? Sounds a bit like Germany in the old days - when credit cards weren't generally accepted. That has changed now though I think.
  18. Looking at the picture of him in The Standard I'm sure I've seen him around - possibly at Pizza Express or Ronnie Scotts.
  19. I heard another version of this tune the other day under Slide Hampton's name I think but for the life of me can't now recall it - will hopefully respond with details over the weekend.
  20. Picked up the Galaxy box from Zweitausandeins for some ridiculous amount like 25 euros. Those were the days !
  21. Wally Hammond John Hammond Johnny Winter
  22. .... which would explain why the racks in those pictures are still crammed full with LPs !
  23. Sorry to hear this Bill. He was still writing reviews for 'Jazzwise' and The Standard until very recently. RIP. Certainly knew his bop/hard-bop, that's for sure.
