Must be another of those Les Tomkins recordings.
  2. Thumbs up here for 'The Pentagon'. Japanese East Wind direct-cut LP session with Cedar Walton, Sam Jones and Billy Higgins.
  3. A bit of Hank for this Easter ! Hank Mobley 'The Flip' (BN Liberty blue/white, Transamerica). Sounds OK, certainly better than the Conn (not difficult).
  4. There's a picture of him at the recording desk at one of those Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Solid State recording sessions (it's in the Mosaic booklet). Sorry to hear of this - RIP.
  5. Totally agree. Award for 'album that exceeds expectations by largest margin'.
  6. Hank Mobley on vinyl !
  7. All the best !
  8. 'Ben's Collectors' Records' in Guildford is a great little place. Ben know's his jazz too !
  9. Sonny Simmons 'Rumasuma' (Contemporary, white label stereo). RIP Barabara Donald. preceded by: Bill Coleman 'Singing and Swinging With..' (French Columbia 10", mono). Can't even find a picture of this one..
  10. Nigel Lawson Nigella Lawson Domestic Goddess
  11. Nice date! That's a different cover from the CD. Is there any different material? Looks like the Reservoir CD has one track - 'Blue Lament' - which is not on the LP. Otherwise the tracks are the same. Yes, very nice session recorded at Rudy Van Gelder's.
  12. and chaos at the airports as all of the nutters try to escape. Fools !
  13. Bill Clinton George Clinton Chicken George
  14. How did I guess? Great to hear that the $$ worked out good. Congrats ! Probably keep the weekly 'Focus' feature refreshed ad-infinitum..
  15. That must have been pretty traumatic Brownie ! Presumably all of the nice original Blue Notes were sold too. Paris jazz Corner? This thread needs to be re-named 'Brownie Sells Vinyl Hoard'. Good move keeping the Mosaics !
  16. Don Sickler, Jimmy Heath, Cedar Walton etc. 'The Music of Kenny Dorham' (Uptown)
  17. A short and strange film - but worth checking out. Not a good week for jazz obituaries. RIP.
  18. The 'Pendulum' is great. Some strong music in that set and the sound isn't bad either. You'll find yourself replaying it quite a bit I think.

    Barbara Donald

I really like her recordings with Sonny Simmons and would like to hear the later stuff too. Truly sorry to hear this - RIP.
  20. For anyone in the UK, that deal is effectively a freebie, as the postage would be at least £5. Unbelievable ! Miles Davis on Columbia quantitative easing perhaps?
  21. Sir Jams Goldsmith Jemima Puddleduck Imran
  22. I'll stick with a cleaning machine.
  23. Joe Henderson Fletcher Henderson Joe 'Piano' Henderson
