Yes, 'The Gigolo' is one that I don't even have on a Liberty pressing (my only copy, other than CD, is a Pathe Macaroni DMM ) so the Music Matters 2x45rpm will be very welcome here !
That one is a corker and Farrell fits very well into Martino's line-up.
My favourite Joe Farrell is probably on the Thad & Mel Mosaic set. I like his CTI albums, the work with Elvin and his single LP done for Contemporary too (must dig it out).
More money to fund banksters, lawyers, trainee politicos and other assorted shysters
Hope they get none of it and it goes to more deserving causes like the scientists.
Pretty shocking news, given his relatively young age. Makes me feel ancient too - RIP.
Later on in the 60s was when I first remember it - around the same time as 'Rat Patrol'.
Hope I get to see him again. May his playing and music continue to flourish !
Just wish that they'd shown much more of his playing (instead of the rushed, short scene in the club) and given him an Oscar for that 'Terminal' movie.
Wish I could have got to see "The Cookers". The Ronnie Scott's London gig got a good review in the press here - Eddie Henderson being given particular mention.
Picked Up Elvin's 'Puttin' It Together' this afternoon. Fine nick first Liberty pressing at a very nice price.
I bought that when it first came out - still have it. Very 'posh' for an LP - with all of the pull out notes, sound-stage diagram for the instruments etc.
