  2. I must admit that I enjoyed that book - the judgemental bits I take with a pinch of salt though (with Miles, one man's 'chalk' always seems to be another man's 'cheese'). Currently reading (when I get chance): An excellent read. Anyone who has been to this site (between Leeds and York) in-person can't fail to sense that some seriously nasty **** happened here. More men died there in 1 day than on the first day of the Battle of the Somme. In the middle of an Easter snow-storm too. ..

  10. Spooky for March: students out in shorts and T-shirts. I KNEW you two and Sidewinder would be posting on this thread today! We Brits are so predictable! Bloody lovely here anyway. Can't believe the number of idiots out there in shorts and flip-flops and driving covertible soft-tops today. Where do they think they are - Ibiza? I suspect they bought the convertible soft-tops today on a whim to celebrate their tax windfall. Alas, poor granny! Quite! But granny never fagged for us at Eton. The 'convertible' was a beat-up Astra chav-mobile coming out of Tesco !

  17. Both 'Gem' and 'Golden Hare' are also very nice indeed. I wonder if they still do t-shirts - my last one bought at the Fest fell apart recently. Another good one tried recently is that 'Sharp's Special' from Rock, Cornwall. No doubt specially fermented for the spoilt Metropolitan Tarquins who frequent the beaches there in Summer but a good beer, nevertheless.
  18. Always good when this one is on 'Special' - £1.99 usual price is a bit 'rich' for me. Too bad that they don't bring back the Bath Fest jazz weekend that usually goes with it. Responsible drinkers shouldn't fear anything. Their 'sights' are on the cheapo no-name beer brands, 2L bottles of mega-cheap cac cider and discount 10 packs of Stella churned out by the supermarkets. If it cuts down some of the mindless "pre-loading" and binge drinking that goes on in much of this country thanks to such 'offers' then bring it on !

  22. agreed, I only ordered about half a dozen times from him but his service was excellent. Same here. The legacy of that is a lovely stash of King and Toshiba Blue Note and Pacific Jazz LPs he supplied. They were/are immaculate.

  24. BARGAIN! Indeed - the place of origin can't have helped, I guess, for this sale.
