  1. Always nice to see those Master Jazz LPs.
  2. happy you, did you make it? Very sadly, no. I was in London the day before and too exhausted to make the trip in to Exeter. Hopefully next time though. They are doing Westbrook/Blake 'Glad Day' in Newton Abbott (smaller group with Phil Minton) soon so maybe I can make that one. Incidentally, I noticed in London that the DVD of 'Mama Chicago' from 1980 is now out. I'm sure I caught that when it was originally broadcast on TV.
  3. An excellent one. Well overdue. Need I also mention yet again.....................'Hum-Dono'?
  4. Shipping is a good deal though !
  5. Maybe the people at the Darmstadt Jazz Institut might be able to help? They have a lot of those NDR videos on file I think.
  6. Wow - thanks for posting that, didn't think that any footage of this show still survived. It must be from a Ronnie Scotts compilation show they broadcast around the time. The original full show seems to have been wiped from the archive ('Jazzwise' had an article about this some time back). I was actually under the impression that only a couple of David Redfern photographs of that gig survived to document it, so this is a real bonus. Nice also to see Ronnie Scott and the Club at its peak !
  7. Ubu - Goldmine lists 'Bashin' as released 1962 with numbers V-8474 (mono) and V6-8474 (stereo). Median value about $12 for VG+ in both cases. If it is the heavier vinyl then likely to be this issue I guess.
  8. Are these all of the states that were originally settled by the English?
  9. For UK punters - 'Virgo Vibes' and 'Stone Soul Picnic' digipacs spotted recently at FOPP in London for the sum of £3 each..

  11. Murder it was! The Hank Mobley BN1568 reached $3,618 The Lee Morgan BN1575 reached $3,494 The Lee Morgan Candy reached $2,835 The Kenny Dorham New Jazz reached $2,380 The Sonny Clark Dial S reached $2,035 and on and on... Who says we're in an economic recession? Would I rather have one "original" LP, or the entire Blue Note catalogue in the form of CDs? Hmmm.... I must be mad because I would take the entire catalogue as CDs. My preference would be for one of these without the sleeve. Seeing these prices reminds me of ol' Wile-E-Coyote running off the edge of the ravine and air-peddling..
  12. The Westbrook Big Band is back in action at the Exeter Vibraphonic Festival (Phoenix) this Thursday night. If I can get my act together, I hope to make it.

  15. Garrard (or an offshoot) are still in business from Newbury, UK and selling reconditioned versions of their turntables in new plinths. They do them with top-end SME arms too.
  16. Last I heard (which is well over 10 years ago), these guys were producing ruggedised military comms kit ! Not sure if they are still in business as such or taken over by one of the big prime contractors these days.
  17. Buddy Rich Argo/Emarcy/Verve box - CD7. Unlike many of the other CDs in this box, the music on this CD is completely new to me (although I think it came out in a 70s Emarcy 2LP set). Nice Sunday listening !
  18. Are we to guess which is male or female - or is this a trick question. My guess is The Hobbit
