  1. Hey, good to hear that. Miracles sometimes happen !
  2. I've still got a couple of Liberty-era Lee Morgan cassettes. With the old style black cases. 'Sixth Sense' and 'Caramba'. Classed as 'originals' I guess - along with the 8-track versions? We need a Fred Cohen book for the cassettes !
  3. Nice story ! Always good when something like that happens (rare in my experience). Sanders and his band are appearing at Cheltenham, UK in a few months time and I'm tempted to catch the show.
  4. Half the fun of Slade was seeing what outrageous get-up Dave Hill would appear in for each appearance on TV. What a character ! And that guy with Mud in the frock and ear-rings was just as bad. Not sure what this has got to do with 'Bitches Brew' though.
  5. Late best wishes. Hope the ski-ing was good !
  6. What do you think of the Django set? This type of music I have very little of, and was wondering the enjoyment/replay quotient. I just have CDs 1 and 2 and it swings like crazy. No issues with the sound quality either. Must get the full set !
  7. Rush had a bit of a UK cult following of semi-headbangers around 1978 onwards. There must have been a 'Toronto Invasion' around that time. 'Martha & the Muffins' etc.
  8. wind turbines and their ability to save the world
  9. No Sid James? Seeing all those MFP covers makes me think of the LP racks at Woolworths (RIP) !
  10. Indeed ! Those two CDs got multiple re-spins. Now on - Django Reinhardt CD1
  11. Proportional representation
  12. Jolly Green Giant Dave Prowse Jaws
  13. Victor Feldman's versatile pianistic/vibes/percussion influence is very apparent I think on 'Katy Lied' That is one heck of a good album.
  14. My advice is to get the Django, especially if your Django holdings are slim. Great set. I like the Sarah set less. . . . Thanks Jazzbo. I've got a partial of the Django Mosaic and like what I've heard. Time to get the full set I think. The Sarah Vaughan can maybe wait for another time. Sounds like I also need to add a Jimmy Witherspoon single into the box too !
  15. Bobby Hutcherson 'Linger Lane' (BN blue label, stereo)
  16. Which always reminds me of this (about 40s in): Radio Goodies The TV over here has also been broadcasting recently an old archive show called 'Sounds of the 60s'. Anglo/German joint production done in Xmas 1969 full of stars of that era and Jankowski is shown walking through the snowy Black Forest, pipe in mouth ! Quite a period piece - MTV is isn't :rsmile: .
  17. I need to put in an order for Buddy Rich so this might be a good time to also grab the Django, or the Sarah Vaughan. Any recommendations?
  18. Happy Birthday !
  19. Johnny Hodges Verve 56-61, CDs 5 and 6. Sublime !
  20. Happy birthday - hope it was good.
