  1. Likely to be delayed with the backlog due to extreme weather over Xmas. I have a CD from the US that is taking longer than usual so I wouldn't worry too much.
  2. Mary Poppins Poppy Z Brite Ol' Pappy Paps Papa Doc Papa Doc Junior
  3. Yes, that 'de Sade' session was recorded at Van Gelders - April 1966. Just checked the Verve Elite CD. Maybe he got one into his inventory just as that early psychadelia pop phase was ramping up, which tended to feature the harpsichord quite a bit. Edit - just beat me to it !
  4. Warren Buffett Ben Bernanke Willem Buiter
  5. Blaze Starr Gypsy Rose Lee Pandora Peaks
  6. I was astonished listening to this pressing just how good it was acoustically. Recorded in 1948 (or was it '49?) but you would never know it. Those Tadd Dameron sides are amazing !
  7. Freddie Roach 'Down To Earth' (BN NY USA mono, DG one side). A monster !
  8. Bobby Hutcherson 'Oblique' (BN King)
  9. 'The Fabulous Fats Navarro Vol 2' (BN Lexington DG)
  10. Yeah ! DECs version of 'Adventure' was best though ("Welcome to Colossal Cave..). You could go N, S, E or W, pick up a lantern and keys and then before lighting the lantern an evil troll hits you in the back with an axe ! All via a DEC teletype as the user interface ! Graphics were via special characters like ****@@## etc. Pre green cursor !
  11. Luis Gasca Joe Henderson Joe 'Piano' Henderson
  12. We'll have comments about fanny packs next..
  13. Have we covered Theresa Brewer with Oliver Nelson and Chas & Dave ("Oily Rags") yet? Another Bob Thiele Flying Dutchman project. 'Blue Acker'? Damn good album, another inspired Dennis Preston project.
  14. Son of a Gun Peter Gunn Wayne LaPierre Pierre Trudeau Brian Mulroney Mordechai Richler
  15. Sad to hear of this. Totally philistine the way that they are getting rid of these places. It's happening over here too. Example - Lansdowne Studios in Notting Hill, London. Legendary studio for Dennis Preston and Joe Meek, destroyed in 2006 to make way for more damn bankster apartments. Makes me sick !
  16. This was one of the ones that Zweitausendeins had for about 30 euros 'back in the day', which must be one of the greatest Mosaic deals ever.
  17. IBM 360-60 - nice ! These days I have trouble just logging on. And mention the word 'Vax' now and this is what most people think of:
  18. Anyone remember punching control cards by hand to use with Fortran-77 and then spilling the whole lot on the floor just before you were about to put them in the hopper? I do. My first machine (an Atari ST) was a bit of a step up from that. You could even make your own dongles !
  19. Mrs Robinson Geoffrey Robinson Peter Mandelson
  20. Have a great one Clifford !
  21. NorthSea? I think that was in 2005 - he also did some scat singing with Roberta Gambarini. The band was directed by Slide Hampton.
  22. According to the 'Jazz Collector' site there have been problems at the JRC on-line site for people ordering online from overseas but Fred Cohen has posted on there that it looks as if this glitch will be sorted out early next week. An incredible feat of resistance !
  23. Eh? Oh - I get it. Wasn't that Ford Prefect in the cricket sweater?
  24. Leslie Crowther Peter Worth The Crankies
  25. Rare victory in these parts. First time since the mid-80s (remember it well). Rejoice ! Ashes
