  1. Dizzy Gillespie 'An Electrifying Evening With The Dizzy Gillespie Quintet' (Verve, mono) Mike Westbrook Orchestra 'Citadel/Room 315' (UK RCA, stereo)
  2. Sweep Sue Spike
  3. How did you guess? Yep, a nice 'Olive' NAC 52. I now need to re-listen to my whole collection.
  4. Art Farmer/Cedar Walton Trio 'The Summer Knows' (Inner City)
  5. Just got a new pre-amp on demo today (non-tube). The results are astonishing !
  6. We need a set of stamps with UK jazz vinyl ex-shops on them. I suggest:- Mole, Dobells, Rays (the original), Honest Jons (Camden) and James Asman.
  7. I'll bet they're not using original Blue Note LPs to try it out !
  8. I'll be ordering it around 2015 After the Braxton, Threeadgill, MJQ, Herman, Rich etc etc etc
  9. Same here! Ditto. It's brilliant !
  10. Private Fraser Pike The Verger
  11. Love that one, John, especially the two jumpin' Krupa tracks and Gerry's wonderful voicings on "All the Tbings You Are"! Referred to once by Humph in a BBC radio broadcast as 'an arrangement as dense as a Fair-Isle' sweater. Couldn't be more right !
  12. Weren't they still operating in some form at Harold Moore's Records, Gt Marlborough St? (the place with no notice on the door, hazardous door-knob and secret password to get in). They were here the last time I visited, in the upstairs bit - after the closure they moved downstairs into the main store I think (haven't visited). Well, I guess it is a major recession and Ed Dipple originally started by mail order 1974/75 so the timing is right ! In fact, Mole at their peak was in the early 80s recession. Haven't heard anything of this rumour, by the way. Great Marlborough St is on the edge of Soho, so that could be the source of the rumour. (Mole's original site at Kings Cross pre-redevelopment (if it ever happens)
  13. Yeah, I was holding out for a Euro-set too but never saw it over here at the sort of price Zwei used to do (and I don't think it was part of any of their offers). In fact I only ever saw it for sale at the London Oxford St HMV, briefly at that - and over £100 !
  14. No Problem!!! Anyways, I will let you know what set number I get when it comes in late next week (they are shipping it on Monday)---I also ordered the Woody Herman Columbia set as well, any opinions on that? I need to go on a Mosaic hiatus until May when the MJQ set comes out. SELF DISCIPLINE! I only have the Capitol Woody Herman (which is fine) but I'm sure that the Columbia set will be excellent. It's on my list too.
  15. Parlophone is back though ! (although used to peddle crap)
  16. Thanks for the clarification, Jazz Nut !
  17. Oh Buddah ! Wonder how many of the Rich sets they've got in on this last batch (was it 500 of this one or 500 of the Jones?). Either way, I need to order it. Total quantity for this one was slated at 10,000 so I guess they will have sold way less than this.
  18. Archie Bunker Larry Bunker Leisure Suit Larry
  19. Definitely get it checked out !
  20. Phil Nimmons Ed Bickert Moe Koffmann
  21. There was an eye-watering stall at NorthSea a few years ago with literally everything on 32 Jazz and Label M on offer. Bought a few but should have splurged on a suitcase-full ! All of the Shaws were available.
  22. Pigby The Maggon Ridlex 6000
  23. The release of this set is a big suprise - and welcome ! Good news for Mosaic I think as it should sell nicely - and good news for us as it helps to keep Mosaic in a healthy business position. I will definitely get this set. Those original Atlantic LPs can often be compromised. Several that I have (in particular an original 'The Comedy') have more surface noise than I would like so replacing with a CD set won't go amiss. I'm also missing quite a few of these sessions. The tasteful black & white Mosaic booklet format sans cover art comes in useful as they won't have to print the cover of 'Plastic Dreams'. (didn't see that one in the list - but presumably it would be included?)
  24. Wasn't that great ! It must have been filmed just as the Beeching cuts were in progress. The programme certainly gave me a huge respect for Sister Rosetta Tharpe. A real pro !
