Totally second that ! Ben is a very nice chap and I've never failed to find something nice in his racks whenever I've called in, prices are very reasonable. "A1" shop - and he deserves a stamp ! Anyone remember "Woods" in Bradford? Very fine old vinyl shop (I think it still exists, not sure). Early memories of seeing a Miles Davis promo exhibit in that store, full of copies of 'Bitches Brew', 'Big Fun' and 'Get Up With It'. Must have been a CBS UK promo to push the Miles brand.

Yeah, the 'Reflections' didn't sting me too bad. It might well be as rare as 'Hum Dono' - although as it's an 'MOR' type record it tends not to be so sought after. Certainly not one I ever see on offer. Too bad that Amancio didn't get a bit more deserved recognition from the locals here in his lifetime. A not untypical story, sadly. Maybe we can hope that either BGO or Dutton do the CD of 'Hum Dono'. If ever a re-issue is overdue this one is.

Wow - this is the first time I read this interview with Laurie V. I hope she writes the book ! Brings back memories of that infamous 1980 Bill Evans European Tour and the performances at Scotts. Still nothing to compare with those nights of genius.

I remember seeing adverts for the Chris Wellard shop (Streatham?) and seeing notices in JJI that it was closing down but never visited, sadly. Another one to offer up - that 'Jazz & Big Band Record Centre' in the centre of Birmingham near the old Bull Ring. Not sure exactly what it was called. That place was Kenton & Herman Heaven. And thinking about it, even remote outposts like Weymouth had a shop with decent jazz collection back in the day !

Didn't this one originally come out on East Wind as a 'direct cut' LP? Mantilla is on the 'Pentagon' LP with Clifford Jordan and Cedar Walton, also on that label. The Inner City must have been the US imprint.

Picked up a copy of that one off of Amazon for £2.99 so worth keeping an eye open !

You're no doubt right. I just wish that we in the English speaking world could just show a bit of respect and make the effort to watch the originals with subtitles when they are already superb. The UK version of Wallander was completely surplus to requirements. Landmark foreign language series over here that I remember fondly are the 3 series of the German TV 'Heimat' and the full TV version of 'Das Boot'. Way better than just about everything else on the TV at the time. Must get round to watching 'Wallender' one of these days. Too busy watching documentaries about Thin Lizzy !

Some of the old shows I saw in North America had ex-Rich trumpet lead Lyn Biviano featured. So well worth checking out !

Bought pretty well all the Grammavisions when they first came out on vinyl. Right in the middle of the jazz 'boom' of the time. Still have them, quite like them - although they are somewhat of their time. Scofield's Blue Notes and Verves are more to my taste these days. Remember seeing him with Miles in '85 as well, after he had just joined the band.
